Color Dare #110 - Sunset, Honey & Barn Red

Hello! Welcome to the Color My Heart Color Dare for this week!

Our colors this week are Sunset, Honey and Barn Red. I made a standard size card (5 1/2" x 4 1/4") with a side fold. I used a couple of techniques to get the look you see above.
First, I used my Barn Red pigment ink and clear embossing powder to make the image. So even though you can't see it in the photo, the outline of the image has a glossy shine to it. I also dry embossed the background layer with the Floral embossing folder.
Next, I used blending pens to color the flower with Honey and Sunset inks. First, pick up a bit of ink from the inside of the ink pad cover and lay down a light wash of color. Then build on that with more ink to darken certain areas to give it depth. Take it slow because you can always add more ink.
The Color Dare picked the colors for me. I used pattern #21 in our how-to book, Make it From Your Heart Vol. 1. Once the colors and pattern are selected the rest is EASY!

  2. Great card! I too love how you layered each of the pieces and I love how the white looks great with these colours. I would have never put them with white on my own.
