CTMH Technique Blog Hop: Watercolor Your World

It's time for another CTMH Technique Blog Hop. This month we are featuring our new watercolors!
If you've arrived from Denise Elliot's blog you're on the right track. Click the link at the end of my post to continue on the hop!

Watercolor painting sounds kind of intimidating to some people. Once you give it a try you'll find it can be very forgiving. I saw this card by Holly Valerius on a consultant board and had to give it a try myself!

The image was first stamped in Whisper ink on our new watercolor paper so there is a pattern to paint! After that you just start adding layers of watercolor paint. With watercolor painting you start layering from light to dark. So what you see is about 3 layers of paint. You can move the paint around to help create the effect you like. I did the flowers first then while that layer dried I moved to the leaves. Then back to the flowers for the next layer, etc. When I was finished painting, I rubbed the edge on the ink pad to define that layer from the background. The watercolor paper may curl a bit but you can put something heavy on top for a while. My paper didn't curl much so I just used adhesive all around the edges and in the middle to hold it down on the card.

The flowers are from the Paper Garden stamp set. This set is the September Stamp of the Month and will only be available until September 30, 2015! I LOVE this stamp set and know you will, too! Be sure to place your order ASAP so you don't miss out! You can  even get the Paper Garden stamp set for only $5 (value $17.95) with a qualifying order!
