January 2016 Technique Hop ~ Bokeh Technique

Hello and welcome to our monthly Technique Hop! This month we are featuring the Bokeh Technique. If you've hopped here from Kirsten Jade's blog you're on the right track. Just keep clicking the links to continue along the hop, but there is also a list of participating consultants at the end of this post.

If you're unfamiliar with this technique I know you've seen it all over already. It kind of simulates and out of focus background. Most of the time I've seen it with circles but you can use whatever shape you like. For my card I used circles as it went with the pattern on the banner. First you sponge at least 3 ink colors of your choice onto the background in a random pattern. Then you take a template (see mine below) and place it on the sponged background. I then rubbed White Daisy pigment ink in the circles. The pigment ink will take longer to dry or you can hit it with the heat tool for a faster dry time. That's basically it! Now you can stamp right on top of the Bokeh background or you can add a layer like I did here.  To get the 3 colors on the message I simply cut apart the My Acrylix stamp and inked the words individually. It's hard to see the first word LIVE because it was stamped in Canary ink, but trust me it's there.
