Color Dare #242 ~ Lemon, Tangerine, Blossom, Willow, Desert Sand with White, Optional Gold

Welcome to our first color dare challenge for May! The Design Team at Color My Heart has decided to change things up a bit with our challenges. Don't worry....it's only a little bit. *wink.

Here is the new format: Each month Close To My Heart features a new paper pack and this month it's Little Dreamer. For the challenges each week in May there will be a color or two from the Little Dreamer pack PLUS we'll add some other colors to show you how to mix and match! At the end of the month we'll have a color challenge showcasing the colors in the paper pack. You don't NEED the paper pack to join in the color challenge, but honestly it's easier and more fun that way! If you don't have the paper pack just use the featured colors for that week. It's basically the same as before but now you know the backstory of how we're choosing the colors!

For this project I decided to do some coloring with a water brush and reinkers. You can put some drops on a block and use it as a palette or use the inside of the ink pad cover. The images were stamped in Archival Black ink because this will be a "wet" technique. First I laid down a wash of the lightest color for each flower and the leaves. After it dried I went back in and added darker layers building the color depth and creating some dimension. I used the Desert Sand as a light shadow around the flowers and leaves. The main flower was fussy cute and popped up with foam tape.  The final touch was to use the Gold Shimmer Brush on the large rose and the Clear Shimmer Brush on the buds. I also did some dots around the images with a Journal Pen.

All products are Close To My Heart:
  • Stamp Sets: Keep Dreaming, Happy to Be Friends
  • Exclusive Reinkers: Blossom, Tangerine, Lemon, Willow, Desert Sand
  • Exclusive Inks: Archival Black
  • Little Dreamer Paper Pack
  • White Cards and Envelopes Value Pack
  • Cardstock: White Daisy
  • Water Brush
  • Shimmer Brush: Gold, Clear
  • Journal Pen
  • Thin 3D Foam Tape

Let's go shopping!
If you need a consultant I'd be happy to help.
If you'd like to BE a consultant I can help with that, too!

Now it's your turn to show us your idea using these colors. You must use only and all of the colors (gold is optional). Black is ok for stamping images. If you don't have an exact color you may substitute something close but don't add any new colors to the palette.  Details on how to link your creation are on the Color My Heart blog home page. We LOVE to see what you create!
Take the challenge! You'll be glad you did!

Have a fun day!
Michelle
