Thin Cut Oval Butterfly Card

Did you get in on the Thin Cuts sale last month? It's time to put them to use either new or from your stash! Here is a fun technique that will make your image really stand out.

This is a standard size card which means the base is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". Here are the sizes of the layers: Peacock 4 1/8" x 5 3/8", Stripe 4" x 5 1/4", White 3 1/2" x 4 3/4". The piece I stamped the butterfly on is just a bit larger than the oval opening.

First I used the Thin Cut one the white layer. To color the oval edge you leave the Thin Cut in place and trace around it using a journal pen then color with a marker. For the sentiment I curved the stamp a bit on the block so it would fit around the curved edge of the oval.

Next I stamped the butterfly in Archival Black ink because I wanted to use markers to color it in. After coloring I used the Thin 3D Foam Tape around the oval. I then lined up the butterfly image and stuck the two layers together. Next I used some adhesive on the back of the ribbon (slightly longer than the width of the white layer) and put it in place on the front and wrapping the ends around to the back. I put a bit of adhesive on the back to keep the ribbon ends in place.

Now it's time to put all the layers together. At the end I added some Clear Sparkles and colored them with the Peacock Green marker.
