New Stamp Set Blog Hop

There are so many things to be excited about besides just the stamp sets! You are going to LOVE all the new papers and embellishments, too!

For this card I used a variety of new things. First I put our Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to work cutting out a card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"), front, inside layer and frames. The card pattern has the window designed into it already! The papers are from the Pemberley paper kit and they are so soft and sweet.

The stamp set is called A Garden. Its a cute little set of 10 images including the vase flowers, bird, butterfly and 3 messages and it's only $6.95! To color the images I used a water pen then cut out the vase and butterfly. The flower was made with our new Paradise Paper Flowers. There are actually two flowers layered together to give a wispy 3D look. The edges were brushed against a Pacifica ink pad to make it pop a bit. The center of the flower is a Pacifica brad with a tiny sparkle on it. The leaves are stamped directly onto the background but the vase was cut out with a bit of 3D Foam on the back for dimension. The finishing touch was a bit of floss tied around the neck of the vase.

I think this card is a good example as to how you can make

a "big" statement with a small stamp set!

Sonoma Box

I love the way this box turned out. This is our CTMH recipe box but I use it as a container for thank you stamps for my customers. The papers are from the Sonoma kit and create an old trunk kind of feel. The cover shows some paper flowers made with our Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. Each flower has a sparkle in the center and there is a sparkle hat pin added for extra detail. The clasp on the front flap is one of our resin flowers with a crystal dangle. I added a small sparkle to the flower to match the other flower centers. A gentle pull on the crystal dangle and the lid opens right up!

Even though this item is called a recipe box there are all kinds of uses for it! Think outside the box.....the recipe box, that is!

Our Stamp of the Month for January is called Little Reminder and is a set you'll use time and again! numbers, days, months, sayings....it's all right here!

In my sample I've made a card using our Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut a shaped card. I love the little curve! I've used the line stamps from the set to create the plaid background. The paper is from our Wonderland kit and I took my ink colors from that....Twilight and Chocolate!

The center layer is also cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge and layers over a piece of white cardstock. A Mocha Pearl accents one end and a chocolate ribbon knot the other! Cute and simple!

This Stamp of the Month: Little Reminder is only available during the month of January. The Wonderland paper kit will retire Jan. 31st so if you want either of these items you need to place your order during the month of January!

New Grandbaby!

We have a new baby in the family! His name is Beau and he is soooooo cute!

Hazel loves her little brother and gives him lots of hugs and kisses! Mom and baby are doing well and I get to visit the new family this week! I can't wait! I need to start taking lots of pictures for the new scrapbook!

So are there ideas already forming in your head about how many different ways you can create with this?

I wanted to create something a bit out of the box and here is what I came up with after breaking through my creative block! I made CANDLES! After covering the cubes in cardstock embossed in gold with images from the stamp set, I stacked them into 2, 3 and 4 cubes "candles". The seams between the blocks are wrapped with ribbon and I topped each one with a flameless candle. The tray is upside down under the candles to give a little extra height. On each candle I used the "fishnet" image on all the bottom cubes. The top cube of each candle is a different image from the set. Red sparkles accent each candle, too!

Obviously this is a very Christmasy decoration. But just think what you can do by changing out the colors and surrounding decorations! Use different colors and surround them with cupcakes for a birthday! They would be a nice touch at a bridal or baby shower, too. It's all about adapting to the occasion!

Snowman Telescope Card

This is a fun technique that really makes them say WOW when it opens up! It's called a Telescope Card and typically consists of three sections. But you could do more if you really wanted to make a statement!

The key is to make your sections layer on top of each other and kind of hide what comes next so it's a surprise. Otherwise it's really quite simple! When you have your layers created and you're ready to brad them together, be sure to remember the middle section will rotate as the card opens. SO, when you're placing the bottom brad lay the middle section upside down on top of the bottom section. Then poke the hole for the brad. The top and middle need the same treatment. Place the top section upside down on the middle one the place the brad. Now as you open the card each section will rotate to the correct position!

Here I've used D1480 Snowflakes to add some extra detail to the snowman. The eyes and mouth were hand drawn and the carrot is just cut free hand. The hat is a rectangle and square with the corners rounded and a bit of White Daisy pigment ink on the edges. All the circles, the snowflake on the hat and the arms were cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. The arms are actually branches of a snowflake. I also added some Silver Glitz Glitter Gel to the snowflake on the hat. Every snowman needs a bit of sparkle!

December Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to our December Blog Hop! You are going to love all the ideas you find along the way! If you've arrived from Pamela's blog you're on the right track!

Our December Stamp of the Month is called Mad About You and has so many cute images and messages! You'll be using this set time and again for all kinds of themes from Valentines Day to birthdays to babies to ....well just about anything!

This card started with a card base from our Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. I then cut more layers in the same pattern from cardstock and a piece of B&T paper from the Mischief pack. An outline of bronze Glitz Glitter Gel gives a bit of pop to the main image. There are a couple bronze dots on either side of the word YOU, too. I wanted a more masculine look and think this came out pretty good!

Roxie B&T is the plaid background for this card. The center flower was made with the large heart and just layering them to create the look of a flower. A Glitter Brad and some Licorice Opaques form the flower center. There are Licorice Opaques around the message, too.

Happiness layout

If you're new to scrapbooking our Reflections How To Book is the perfect aide to creating your layouts! The book contains tons of single page layouts but also makes suggestions for companion page if you want to create a double layout!

In this layout I used the Sidebar--Photo Accent pattern and changed it a bit to go with the sizes of my photos. The paper kit is called Roxie. My photos were in color but I went to my local photo center and printed them in black and white for this layout.

The stamp set is called Hooray Bouquet and has images to coordinate with our new Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge! It so easy when you don't need to hand cut! The flourishes are from the appropriately named Cherished Flourishes stamp set and the word Happiness is a font from Art Philosophy as well as the scalloped borders.

Some of the flowers have stamped designs and some were just cut from the plaid Roxie paper. I then crunched them into a little ball and gently unfolded them for the distressed look you see here. Layer a few flowers together and add an Opaque Pearl to the center and you have some very pretty flowers!

Harvest Happiness layout

I LOVE the colors of Fall! I lived in Door County, WI for a long time and Fall was always my favorite season! The beautiful blue waters of Lake Michigan and the Bay of Green Bay made a stunning contrast to all the brilliant colors of the fall foliage.

In the layout I used one of the patterns from out How To book called Magic. I also used the new stamp set Harvest Happiness which has images to coordinate with our Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. No hand cutting of the images! The word FALL is from our cork alphabet and gives a nice texture don't you think! I stamp rolled the leaves and the other letters stamped with the Bohemian Alphabet. A few touches of Bronze Glitter Gel and ribbon finished it off.

October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome! If you've arrived from Cindy Leek's blog you're on the right path! Our hop this month features a set called Holiday Magic. You know...it's not too early to start thinking of those holiday stamping projects!

This holiday card is simple and oh so cute! The papers are from our Roxie kit ... LOVE IT!! The stocking is stamped in Desert Sand and the cuff was cut from The same plaid Roxie paper as the background. I curved the message slightly so it could be stamped along the stocking. A touch of our new Red Glitz Glitter Gel and a Licorice Pearl were the final touches!

Now this holiday card uses one of the pretty tree images from Holiday Magic. The paper is from the Sonoma kit. A bit of layering in Cocoa and Bamboo on the tree with an angle cut to parallel the side of the tree leaves a bit more space for a message. The stamped border is actually the image for the runners on the sleigh! I added some Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel for sparkle, too.

This is what the entire set looks like. There are SO many great images it's hard to decide which one to use first! But be sure to give them all a try!

Many looks from ONE stamp set!

Here is a trio of cards I made using the new Unscripted stamp set. How is this for three very different looks out of one set!

The top left uses Roxie paper...LOVE that plaid! I also used a technique called Faux Tiles (Technique Junkies). Score lines for the tiles. Stamp your images on the "valley" side. Next cover all but one square at a time and sponge a bit of color around the edge of the "tile". Do this individually for all tiles by masking all but the tile you're sponging.

The bottom left has an autumn feel in colors. I stamped the background flowers in clear then sponged to make them pop!

The blue one on the right uses paper from Dreamin'. I love the blue tones you can make with this paper! Just a touch of Honey makes the Pacifica flowers really stand out!

Play around with your papers and inks to see all the different possibilities from just one stamp set! Versatility makes your supplies even more fun....and economical, too!

I LOVE this new stamp set from our Autumn/Winter Idea Book! It's called Sweet Memories and for me has a warm, nostalgic feeling. There are two cameo sizes with frames as well as some other accent images and messages. Lovely!

Here I've used the new Sonoma papers with some Smokey Plum ink and cardstock. A few Mocha Opaques and a flower made from our new Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge finish off the look.

The pattern is Mojo Monday 203. A very nice pattern for all occasions.

New Product Blog Hop!

I had so much fun making this layout of my granddaughter. The photos were taken last October when she was only 3 months old. She's now 1 year old! Kids have a way of growing up fast, don't they!

I've used some of our newest products in this layout! Look at that lacy border on the upper right. That's one of the 700 images from our Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge! The message layers were also cut from the cartridge. Not only is it FUN having all these images at my fingertips....it's EASY to cut and add them to my projects! In the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection you get the cartridge with 700 images plus 3 exclusive stamp sets and 3 Dimensional Elements packs that all compliment the images from the cartridge!

I used two stamp sets on the layout. Wicked is the August Stamp of the Month and the other set is called All Hallows Eve. The little bats are 3-D'd...is that a word?...with a bit of foam tape under one wing. The paper is from our new Mischief paper pack and it's SO cool! Great for Halloween but also neutral enough for any time of year! Did you know our new B&T papers are now cardstock weight and have two different patterns on each side? Very versatile!

There is also distressing going on here, too. I sanded the cardstock strips and the frame. To make the frame....after you cut out the center for your photo, fold the corners to get a crease. Lightly sand the folded corner, inside and outside edges of the frame. You can also sand the rest of the frame to complete the distressed look.

August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop for August! What a fun stamp set we have this month! I love, love, LOVE it! If you've come from Melissa Laverty's blog you're on the right track. Don't you love her ideas! Let me show you some more!

Here's a cute card with a bit of a "split negative" effect. The pattern is the #2 card from the standard size card workshop in our How To book: Wishes. The accent color is sunset and the B&T is from our new kit called Mischief. These papers are great for Halloween projects but also have great patterns for year round use! I like to stamp a little extra on the inside, too. A 2nd generation image behind the message is a nice accent!

This is an 8" x 3 1/2" card made with papers from the Mischief paper kit. The pattern is Puzzle Backdrop from our How To Book: Originals. It's hard to see in the photo, but I used some of our new Silver Glitz Glitter Gel to accent along images stamped on the top and left of the broom layer. I also brushed a bit onto the broom.

Now this is a standard size card showing another of the patterns in the Mischief paper kit. the pattern is Sweet & Simple, again from our Originals How To Book. A really great detail about these new B&T papers is that they are now cardstock weight and have this really cool Zip Strip along one edge. One side of the Zip Strip tells you details about the kit. The other side has a pattern. You just cut the Zip Strip off and use it as an accent in your projects! Look in the bottom left of the card above. The 1/2" x 1 1/2" piece is from a Zip Strip! I layered it and added some Licorice Pearls for accent. You are going to LOVE the Zip Strips!

More July Stamp of the Month!

I got out my July Stamp of the Month: American Celebration, my photos from last year when I went to Washington, D.C. for convention and started creating! The layout is Sideline Surprise from our Imagine How-To book. It just felt perfect for these photos!
The colors I used are Moonstruck and Cranberry. It's hard to see them all but I have lots of red, white and blue sparkles too. Making this layout made me feel extra patriotic on this holiday weekend as well as bringing back some really fun memories from last year's 4th of July!

Tomatoes!

I'm not a gardner of any sort! I hate planting and weeding, but I LOVE the flowers, fruits and veggies you get from a garden. I usually plant a few geraniums and petunias because I seem to do ok with those. But, I took on a new task for the summer. I'm nurturing along two tomato plants in containers and so far so good! Here is a close-up of the first ones! The smaller ones in front are only about 2-3" across with the larger one in back about 4-5" across. I can't wait until they are ripe for picking and we can have that wonderful fresh tomato flavor. My other tomato plant still doesn't have any tomatoes, but it's a later growing version. I wanted to extend the season of fresh tomatoes so I got two different varieties.

I'm already thinking what I should add next year! Maybe I better just slow down and see how the tomatoes go throughout the growing season.

This month out Stamp of the Month is called Chairs to You. It's an adorable set with 6 different chair images and some nice messages to go with! In my samples below I've used the Sweetheart paper kit. In the first card the chairs are heat embossed in black.

The card below is a simple card with paper layers and images stamped in black ink. It's hard to tell, but there is a tiny sparkle in the center of the three flowers. Add a black ribbon and some 3D Foam under the chair layer to add some dimensional interest.

Step Up Technique

This is a fun technique that gives you dramatic results! Here I've used the Trellis stamp set and Juniper ink to create a beautiful card. I stamped the two smaller pieces by laying one on the other and stamping the images over both pieces. The butterfly has a bit of foam tape under just one side. A couple of small licorice pearls accent the butterfly and message.

It's Spring! Enjoy Every Moment!

Spring makes me think of flowers. I'm not much of a gardener so I have to rely on my stamping skills to create a garden.

This stamp set is called Enjoy Every Moment and includes the three images you see here. The detail in these flowers are beautiful and works well with a variety of techniques.

The top card of Morning Glories was done with watercolor pencils and a water pen. The Daisies has a touch of color added with a water pen. Finally, the Calla Lillies was done with a water pen and markers.

After I created the cards with color I wanted to try a black and white version. I've used my Cuttlebug to emboss over the stamped image. This technique is from the TJ Emboss or Die CD. I've used a variety of embellishements: pleated ribbon, Kraft Color Ready Borders and Licorice Opaques. These cards are clean, simple and it makes the images really pop.

All cards are 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" except for the Yellow Daisy card which is 8" x 3 1/3".

Yesterday I got to spend the day creating. I love those days! Here is a card I'd like to share that is my version of a card in our Close To My Heart Idea Book. It's a 7" x 5" side fold card using papers from the Bliss kit. The stamp set is Trellis. Yes there is a lot of cutting but it's worth it in the end result.

D1455 Blessed is our April Stamp of the Month. I love this set! You have the option to add color with a variety of methods. Chalks, pencils, water pen, or leave it uncolored. Here I used the solid image. Quick and easy!

I love how this card turned out! It's a 7"x5" side fold using papers from the Sweetheart kit. The message is from our new Card Chatter--Birthday set. The rose is one of the ribbons in our Pink ribbon collection. A few clear sparkles add a nice touch.

The card below uses paper from the Miracle kit. Lovely blues and greens create a soft look. I also dabbed some dots of Glitter Gel to accent the images.

Background Stamps

Not my usual style but I love it! I need to try this style more often.
This card uses 3 of the 4 images found in D1477 Universal Backgrounds. They are all very different but work well together. I've second generation stamped the music image in Grey Wool for the background. The script image is on the vertical piece with the dots in 1st generation Grey Wool. The screen image is on the small piece behind the circle and once again a 2nd generation in Grey Wool. The accent color is Pear and doesn't it give a nice pop of color to the overall look! This card is based on a card made by Vicki Wizniuk. Thanks for the inspiration, Vicki!

Neutral Shadow Technique

I've been having a lot of fun with the Neutral Shadows Technique lately. I knew this was the perfect technique to use with this picture of my great-grandparents from Ireland.

You simply clear emboss your images and then rub a neutral ink color around the images to make them pop! Here I used Gray Wool. I used a stipple brush to apply the ink. Here's a tip to make it easier... wind a rubber band around the bristles of the stipple brush to keep them tight. This helps you apply the ink into all the tiny spaces around the images.
Licorice Pearls add just the right finishing touch.

H2H Challenge and Mojo Monday--a double challenge!

This week I decided to play in both the H2H Challenge and the

Mojo Monday sketch challenges.

This week the H2H Challenge was to use 3 specific colors:

The paper flowers are from the Just Blooms Spring Blossom collection. OH...check out the scalloped border at the top! That is one of our Kraft Color-Ready Borders! I sponged black ink on it and voila! It's self adhesive so it's easy to add to your projects! Finally, I added some Licorice Opaques as accents.

Heritage Layout

I just finished this layout and thought I'd share! The photos are of my grandparents, aunt, uncles and mother...all in their younger years. I had seen this color combo in a sample shown on Jeanette Lynton's blog and really loved it for the heritage photos. My photos are in sepia and go well with the Sunset color used in the layout. I've also used one of our new stamp sets...a very pretty lacey look. The scallop edges you see are actually our new Kraft Color Ready Borders. They are easy to use and so much fun! I've inked them to match the cocoa cardstock on the layout! I've also used our newest How-To book...Magic. This is a great tool and gives you all the help you need to create beautiful layout. The special thing about our Magic book is that the layouts can be interactive!

But the best part of all were the memories these photos brought while I was creating the layouts.

Are you tired of the COLD yet?

That's the challenge for this week. I can honestly say that YES I am tired of the cold. To be honest....it's not really that cold around here compared to other places...but I am tired of it!

So the challenge is to show COLD be it in colors, theme or whatever makes you think COLD!

Thinking about cold makes me think about a snowy winter night. The image is clear embossed. Then I sponged color for the background to create a glow effect. The moon is a circle of cardstock covered in Glitz Glitter Gel and mounted on foam.

Pacifica and Chocolate are the colors in this card. The flower was made with paper from our Magnifique paper kit and our new 2" Scallop Circle Punch. A Shimmer Brad is the center of the flower.

This card was inspired by Vicki Wizniuk. The colors are Lagoon, Sunset, Black and White Daisy. The SOTM was used to create the border section on the left of the card. C1390 So Lucky is the set used for the rest of the images.

The technique on this card was really fun. The image was stamped in White Daisy pigment ink and heat set. Watercolor pencils were used on the stamped image after heat setting to create the multi-colored image. A couple of sparkles add a nice touch, too!

What a pretty stamp set this one is! I love the stem with the heart shaped leaves and all the pretty hearts in all different shapes and sizes. Even though this set is a good choice for Valentine's Day cards you can also use this all year long for many other occasions as well!

The cards I made are all 4 3/4" x 3"....a cute size for Valentines! The papers are from our new Sophia paper kit and feature the colors of Blush, Hollyhock and Pear.

B1365 Spring Up

Love making 3D flowers? This set gives you a little help to get started! The flower on my card is actually 3 stamped flowers. The first one is stamped on the cardstock itself. The other two flowers were stamped and cut out. Then using the lines on the flower, I cut and curled the image to make the 3D part. I added some of our Glitz Glitter Gel on the edges for a bit of sparkle. The paper is from the Sweetheart paper kit featuring Cotton Candy and Black for this card. I added Pear for the stem and leaves. You're going to LOVE this stamp set!

I used black ink with a couple images from the Wings set to create a wallpaper style background on the Vineyard Berry cardstock. Next I used the small flower for the circle along with just the tip of the large vine from the Dreams Come True set. I stamp rolled the flowers to give a two tone look. The message is also from the Dreams Come True stamp set. This is a standard sized card (5 1/2" x 4 1/4") with a top fold. It's based on a smaller sized card made by Vicki Wizniuk.

Wings Layout

This is a layout that also gives you a sneak peak at one of our new paper kits...WINGS and our new E size stamp set called Bohemian Alphabet. I've done some tissue stamping on the images using Juniper and Vineyard Berry inks. Then cut them out and use foam to 3D the images. A touch of ribbon and some of our delicious Licorice Pearls and it all comes together nicely! I will add a bit more journalling but couldn't wait to share.

Misted Butterfly

It's hard to tell but I used our new spray pen on the card. I mixed a bit of pearl paint and water and just lightly misted the card front.

Stamp Rolled Butterfly

The wings of the butterfly have been curled around the edge of my piercing tool for a little extra 3D effect.

Dress Form in Sky-Gypsy

Here's a 5" x 7" card with White Daisy, Gypsy and Sky colors. The dress form is white embossed then sponged with Sky and Gypsy inks to make it pop! On the background I used my Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots folder. Add a ribbon and a few sparkles and.....viola... you're done!

D1445 AMORE

I'm very pleased with the way this card turned out. The photo doesn't do it justice! It's a 5"x7" side fold card with a White Daisy base. The accent colors are Gypsy and just a touch of Black. I've even used a bit of our Hooligan's B&T! Can you find it? It's the Gypsy with black dots rectangle behind the focal images! The white with dots was created using my Swiss Dots embossing folder with my Cuttlebug. There are some dry embossed and sanded lines around the large Gypsy cs layer, too. Finally we get to the stamp of the month! I used the bottom of the heart image to stamp in Gypsy along the top and bottom of the card and also on the two small squared in the middle of the card. A bit of black ink stamped the message and as much of the heart arrow as would fit. Then I drew the edge of the small squared across the black ink pad to get a nice crisp distressed edge. Finally, a white organdy bow and a bitty Gypsy sparkle goes in the heart. Soooooo pretty! You can find the pattern for this card in our How-to book: Originals....Tiny Twins.

Puzzle Technique

D1428 Happy Journey

This was a technique featured in a recent Technique Junkies newsletter. It's very easy to do and allows many options for your design! Each of these cards has a different background...one is sponged and the other left white. I'm not sure which I like better...the soft sponging or the crisp white background. I also added a bitty black brad in the corner of each layer for an accent.

Bandana Technique

Here's a card I taught recently to some of my club members. It uses the Bandana Technique shown on the layouts in the previous post. On this card I used C1422 Unity stamp set with Cotton Candy cardstock and ink. Several of the flowers are paper pieced with a small pink sparkle for the center. There is also some faux stitching along the top and left of the white layer. Some Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint dip dots on the bottom flowers gives another texture to the overall look!

Bandana Technique

I just couldn't get the photos to show how truly cute these layouts turned out! The colors are there but POP more in real life. The technique is called Bandana Technique and is simple to do! All you need are stamps, ink, white crayon, sponge, dry embossing stylus and our Pearl Paint. After that you embellish as you like! Stamp the images then use the white crayon accent. You won't be able to see the crayon very well on the white cs unless you tip it a bit to catch the light. Next using the same ink you stamped with sponge on the ink and the crayon resists the ink while coloring all the rest. Use the stylus to make "dip dots" to accent the images.

Top layout colors: Cotton Candy with Chocolate base.

Bottom layout colors: Smoothie with Black base.

On the top layout I also dyed one of our Paper Flowers with the Cotton Candy reinker. The center is from Irresistables--Pizzazz, also colored with Cotton Candy ink. Journaling was done with a white gel pen.

Close To My Heart My Acrylix Stamps!

Hmmmmm.....that's a hard question! I could give a different answer each day because there is so much to love! Right now I'm thinking our My Acrylix stamps are my favorite! I absolutely love being able to see through the image for accurate and easy placement. I love being able to see the ink transfer from the stamp to the paper. I love being able to create curves with my messages. I love being able to cut off part of a stamp and yet still be able to use it "whole" again later. I love the variety in designs we offer. There is something for everyone!

Ok,ask me again in an hour and I'll probably have a new answer. ; )

Heart 2 Heart Challenge

I wouldn't have thought to use these colors together but had A LOT of fun doing it for this challenge. That's the great part about a challenge...stepping outside of your creative zone and trying something new or different! Take a look at some of my efforts....

I LOVE how this card turned out! The stamp set is D1298 Beautiful Things. I hadn't used this set in a while and it just reminded me how pretty it can be! Here's a list of the supplies I used:

The pine bough and cattail images were cut out and glued to the top to give just a bit of dimension. A cattail was stamped in the lower right on the inside of the card as an added touch.

I find myself reaching for this stamp set over and over again! A subtle tone on tone stamping at the bottom of the card helped add some interest and not compete with the main image.

This is such a cute little card....4 3/4" x 3" and is the City Scape pattern from our How-To book...Wishes. The papers are from our Olivia paper kit. LOVE that kit! Sunset, Smoothie and Pear are new colors and so very pretty. The small flower in a vase image was inked with markers...Smoothie on the flower, pear on the stem & leaves and Sunset on the vase. Don't forget to "huff" on it before stamping to get a nice image. A few Mocha Pearls as accents lend a nice touch don't you think!

For a completely different look........

This is a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card with a side fold. The card base is actually black cs. I also used Gypsy as my other color and I love the way it "pops" with the black. The message is from the SOTM set and the flower is from D1306 Treasure Life. The center of each flower has a small clear Bitty Sparkle for a touch of bling. Since the card base is black, on the inside I layered a piece of white cs and stamp a flower in the lower right corner just for fun!

Blogtoberfest--Fun with Glitter!

I recently bought a package of glitter made by a la Mode and it's beautiful just in the package! 18 gorgeous colors and they are a great match to our CTMH colors...especially our 8 NEW colors! What a find! Of course the photos don't to the glitter justice but I think you'll get the idea! Using a glue pad I stamped the images then sprinkled on the glitter. A key part to glitter stamping is to "push" the glitter into the glue so put a piece of scrap paper on top of the glitter, roll a brayer over it a couple times or rub with your fingers, then lift the scrap paper. Now you can tap off the excess glitter. In the top card I actually used two colors of glitter on the flower. It's hard to see but looks very nice in real life. Both cards feature paper from the Olivia paper kit. CS and ink colors are Pear, Smoothie and Sunset.

Clear Card with Embossed details

Yesterday I spent a wonderful day at a 13 hour crop with my good friend Sheila. We always have fun on these days and the time goes quickly! We don't have our next one scheduled until Jan. 8th when we hope to have our next group of SOTM sets to work on!

The Heart 2 Heart Challenge this week is embossing, so this is card fits the bill! Both the bear and eagle are embossed in Cocoa.

Besides working on some personal scrapbooking pages (still works in progress), I also made a total of 15 cards. Can you say..."productive"! Here's a card for an upcoming swap. It's a clear card and honestly...the photo doesn't do it justice. Stamp set is C1424 Nature's Gift.....a beautiful set!

Papers are from the X7127B Magnifique kit. I can't get enough of these colors! I also used a Spellbinders die with my Cuttlebug to create the circle and sponged the background. Dry the ink before embossing the bear otherwise you have embossing powder clinging all over! the bear is embossed in Cocoa as is the eagle. The bear is layered on some B&T/cs strips and embellished with Mocha Pearls to the front of the clear card. Everything else is on the inside!

I LOVE the way this card turned out. I hope the swappers do, too!

This layout is based on a wall hanging created by our own Jeanette Lynton! The left page is similar to the wall hanging, but I the right page was created as a companion page using the same ideas! I've adjusted some of the details based on which stamp sets and supplies I had on hand. If you like an idea but don't have all the supplies used for that project....search your stash! More than likely you'll have plenty of things that will work just as well!

Some of the things I adjusted were the Dimensional Element letters and the stamped image on them, the B&T papers, the tree images, the mummy square.

Next time you find an idea you'd like to lift.....look around for things you can use first! The more you use supplies you already have the more economical they become!

D1438 Circle of Love

7"x5" side fold card

Wouldn't you love to get a card like this one! I know it would make my day! This is a card inspired by a couple of others. Thanks Tresa Black for inspiring the sponged look for this peacock! She embossed and sponged her image but I chose to stamp mine in black over the sponged colors.

I was also inspired by a card I saw and I'm sorry to say I don't have the name of the artist. It was a card using a non-CTMH stamp of a peacock with the panel sections as part of that image. I created the look by creating the peacock image on one piece of cardstock, cutting it into 3 panels and ink distressing the edges with black. Layering on white cs and then black cs helped create the illusion overall illusion I saw in the original card.

A Cuttlebug and embossing folders was used for the details along the right side of the card. This is a 5"x7" card but my embossing folders weren't long enough to fit the side length of the card. That frustrated me for a bit until I decided to try doing in two steps. I placed the folder only 1/2 way for the first pass, then flipped it around and did a second pass to make the detail the full length of the cs layer. A bit of sanding on the raised embossing makes it pop!

It's hard to see, but there are some sparkles on the peacock's head plumes and from our new Blue & Green Sparkles collection. The tail plume as some of our clear Bitty Sparkles. Everything can use a little touch of bling!

X7118B Twitterpated Paper Kit

This card is a pattern from our How-to book Wishes (9033) called Simple Side View. It's a 3.5"x8" card that will fit in a legal sized envelope. There is a window cut into the front of the card that allows the B&T paper to show through from the inside. The leaves and acorn were stamp rolled in Sorbet and Sweet Leaf inks with a touch of Chocolate ink, too. I also scored a line around the outside edges using my paper trimmer and stylus, then sanded the raised line. I also gently sanded the textured cardstock on the front of the card a bit to create some additional texture.

Colors used are Juniper, Sweet Leaf and Twilight.

Lots of different things going on here that all work together to create a very pretty card! For the circle I used a reverse mask to sponge Twilight ink as a background for the acorns. One acorn is stamped directly on the circle and the other is popped up with 3D Foam. The leaves are stamp rolled in Sweet Leaf and Twilight. The leaf on the message was done in 2nd generation.

This layout is based on a wall hanging project our own Jeanette Lynton shared on her blog. I've changed it up a little bit to use supplies I had on hand making it into a layout! The mummy on the bottom is easy to make! Get out your scraps of white cs strips...ink the edges in black and layer them onto black cs to look like bandages. Leave a space for eyes. Make the eyes with a bit of Liquid Applique and two black Bitty Brads. The moon is a metal rimmed circle with the paper cut out of the center! On the Dimensional Elements letters I stamped an image from Lovely Lace in black ink. If I had had a spider web image I would have used that instead, but the lace gave it a nice look, too!

The layout base is actually Grey Wool cardstock with lines hand drawn to create a woodgrain look.

Blogtoberfest--A SCRAPPY Background!

I hope you're are all saving your scraps! I just put mine back in the zip lock bag with the rest of the cardstock or B&T paper. I know....they do tend to build up quickly don't they. But scraps come in very handy and are a good way to make the most of your papercrafting dollars!

This card uses strips of both B&T paper and cardstock from the Magnifique kit that are only 1" x 3 1/2"! We've all got pieces like that! I added a scalloped edge for fun and just layered them in an overlapping pattern on a base piece of Cocoa cardstock. It's just a pretty background all by itself!

Next I stamped the flower from A Posy (A1102) using Lagoon ink rolled in Pacifica. The stem and leaves are stamped in Lagoon with the leaves stamped in 2nd generation then rolled in 1st generation for the darker edge. It's hard to tell in the photo but the flower is 3D'd on foam tape except for the leaf on the left which is glued directly to the background. As a finishing touch I used one of our new Shimmer Brads (Z1349) to give a bit of sparkle and texture.

Blogtoberfest--Sponging

Create a really cool background by simply sponging! For this Halloween card I used the colors Creme Brulee, Sunset and Pansy Purple. First, I sponged the Pansy Purple across the bottom. Then I decided where I wanted my setting sun because that would be the brightest area. With this stamp image I thought it would fit best under the 3 bats! I sponged a little bit of Creme Brulee in this area and expanded it across the "horizon". Next it was time to add the Sunset color above and add a touch of Pansy Purple around the edge to complete the look. With sponging you get different depths of color which works well in this case because it gives a cloud effect without much effort at all! The final step was to stamp the image in Black. You could do it the other way too.... stamp the image first and sponge on top of it. Whatever works for you!

One more little tip.... I tied a knot in the ribbon and added two bitty sparkles for eyes to create a bat! I had A LOT of fun making this card!

What a cute stamp set to get us in the mood for holiday stamping! D1443 Share the Magic has so many cute images it's hard to decide which one to use first.....so I used a couple of them!

This is a standard sized card. The B&T paper is from our new Mistletoe kit (X7130B). The cardstock colors are Topiary, Cranberry and Honey as well as Black for layering. I used the same colors in markers for the Santa image with a touch of Liquid Applique on the pom pom of his hat. I sponged ink from the stamp pads onto the message, huffed on it, then stamped it on the card! A couple of sparkles completes the look with a Bitty Sparkle on the red reindeer!

This is a 3" x 6" card. I've sponged the background using Smokey Plum, Sunset and Creme Brulee. The image and message are stamped in black. When I put the ribbon knot on the card I had a "creative moment". I added two of our Bitty Sparkles on the knot for eyes and viola! A BAT! Too cute and a perfect finishing touch!

Here's a fun closure to add to a card. Wrap a strip of cardstock from the back around to the front and cut a slot in the card front.

Hooray! My granddaughter turned 1 month old recently and was able to go home from the hospital, too! She has grown SO much in her first month. The new family is happy to all be home together and settling into their new life.

August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to the August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! You will be amazed and inspired with all the wonderful artwork from this group of Close To My Heart Consultants. If you've come from Katy Donaldson's blog you're on the right track. Enjoy!

D1424 Something Splendid is only available during the month of August. This is a stamp set you'll use over and over again! Here are several different looks all from this one set!

This card features the Faux Velvet technique (from the Technique Junkies newsletter) in the background. I also made my own "glimmer mist" with our Close To My Heart reinkers, Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint and some rubbing alcohol. Colors are Juniper, Creme Brulee and Petal.

I love the look of this card, too. B&T is from the Passages paper kit paired with Cocoa and Colonial White cardstock. Barn Red ink was used for the flower. Dry embossed lines on the Colonial White cs add some subtle detail.

Here's a good example of looking beyond the larger images in a set. This card was created with just the smaller images! The bottom houndstooth pattern is from D1412 Noted Background. The B&T strip of paper is from the Twitterpated kit and is layered on a piece of Chocolate cs. Inks used are Sorbet, Sweet Leaf and Chocolate. It's hard to see, but there is a touch of Liquid Glass on the center of each flower. Across the B&T layer is a piece of the Chocolate ribbon with the white dash. Just pull on the white part and the ribbon gathers up for a great look on cards and layouts!

New Granddaughter!

Meet my new little granddaughter...

and I mean little!

Hazel was born 8 weeks early and is she ever a feisty little thing! She has been breathing on her own from the start and is very active in her isolette. I think she is going to keep her parents on their toes! It reminds me of her mother.

The top two photos were taken from the up in the top of the Washington Monument! It's an incredible view from 500 feet up! The 1st one is looking at the Lincoln Monument with the World War II monument in the foreground. The other is the White House. I was surprised how tucked in it was by the nearby buildings.

We also did a Segway Tour and that was FUN, FUN, FUN! It was a total of 3 hours, the first 30 min was practice and then off we went! We went all over the National Mall area covering about 8 miles in 2.5 hours. Our guide Phil, warned us that we'd be minor celebrities and people would want to take our pictures and talk to us about the segways. He was right! I know my picture was taken at least once! We were so glad we took the 6:00pm tour since temperatures were in the triple digits! At least by then it was a tiny bit more tolerable and we created a breeze on the segway's. Phil did a fantastic job telling us all kind of info at the various places we got to see. I highly recommend CITY SEGWAY TOURS!

Here are a couple photos from Washington D. C. before convention started. The first one is of some of beautiful National Fireworks! Once they started it was non-stop with multiple fireworks in the air at all times! Gorgeous! In the background was a variety of patriotic music and it was very moving.

The huge flag is hanging in the atrium at the Gaylord National Resort. It was all decked out in a very patriotic manner since it's the 4th of July!

The next photo I took while I was waiting for the fireworks on the National Mall to begin. As you can see, we were sitting right by the Washington Monument. I stuck my foot in the picture for some perspective and to show off my patriotic toenails!

D1423 Happy Forever

So many cute ideas came to mind when I first got this set. Let me share a few with you now!

This card is based on a design in our How-to book called Wishes. Papers are from the Splendor pack in our Summer Idea Book. The whimsical papers go so well with this stamp set! Colors are Colonial White, Goldrush, Brown Bag, Heavenly Blue and Moonstruck. The Edge Distresser was used on the circles. The small circle with thebutterflies is raised up on 3D Foam. I addeda touch of Twill as well.

This is a couple of cards showing how one design can look with just little changes. I rotated the card from top fold to side fold and changed the image. Look at the different feel that creates!

Papers are from the Zippidee paper kit in our Summer Idea Book. Colors used are Desert Sand, Cranberry, Honey and Indian Corn Blue...all taken directly from the kit! Watercolor pencils were used with a touch of a Blending Pen to softly blend the colors. There is 3D Foam under the hedgehog to create some depth. Antiqued Copper brads accent the finished design. This design was based on Mojo Monday #137.

8th Anniversary

Look at the beautiful roses my husband surprised me with yesterday for our 8th anniversary! They are even more pretty in person and smell as wonderful as they look. You might notice there is a blue and a green rose in the bouquet. He has blue eyes and mine are green. Romantically corny, eh! I am SO lucky to have such a wonderful and thoughtful husband!

So pretty!

I am so excited about my hydrangea bush! We planted it a couple years ago and now it's big enough to be covered in blooms! This one is the most "blue" with the others in various stages of turning blue. I couldn't resist snipping this bloom and floating it in a bowl. Just a simple, feel good part of my day.

Isn't this a pretty card! It's simple and clean is design and has a very nice finished look.

Colors used are Colonial White, Indian Corn Blue and Smokey Plum.

I also used our corner rounder and some Colonial White brads for a tone on tone look for the tag. The tag has 3D foam tape to raise it up and give some added appeal to the overall look. There is a touch of Indian Corn Blue added with a water pen to the small flourish on the tag.

Add some Glimmer...the CTMH way!

CTMH style Glimmer Mist

Did you know you can make your own Glimmer Mist? You sure can and I bet you have what you need on hand, too!

--CTMH Reinkers

--CTMH Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint

--91% rubbing alcohol

--small mist bottle

I use those small bottles you can find in the travel size section of your local big box store.

Put about 2 oz of 91% alcohol in the mist bottle. Add a squirt of pearl paint and shake side to side until mixed. Do not shake up and down as it could plug the misting tube. Now add the reinker color of your choice. The amount depends entirely on the strength of color you want. Gently shake to mix and try it out on a piece of paper to test the color. Add more reinker if desired. Now you're ready to go!

In my layout shown above I used Key Lime and Heavenly Blue. I have misted the background a little as well as the border piece at the bottom. It's hard to see the colors but if you look closely you can see them as well as the glimmer. I have also used the mist on the flowers. I gave the flowers a good dose of the mist so they would be completely covered. The flower centers are Twinkle Brads and go so well with the glimmer mist!

B 1353 A Little Buzz

Stamp in black ink. Use Key Lime and Heavenly Blue markers to color in the bugs. Raise the bugs by using 3-D Foam and add some more Twinkle Brads to flower centers on the bottom border. All I need to do is add some journaling and the layout is done!

Go ahead and give it a try! You'll have SO MUCH fun making and using CTMH glimmer mist! With 60 colors to chose from you can make just about anything glimmer!

Here is a money holder card I made for a niece's graduation. The finished size is 8" x 3.5". When I cut the cardstock I made the card base 2 inches wider to create the flap for the inner pocket. So the card base was 8" x 9". With the 9" side horizontal, I scored at 2" and 5.5". Fold the 2" flap to the inside of the card and tack with some adhesive on each end to make a pocket. The other score line makes the fold of the card. Decorate as you like on the front and inside and tuck some cash, a check or even a gift card in the pocket for a gift!

You should have hopped on over from the blog of Chris Shouse. Don't you just love all these ideas! Well here's another one for you to try out!

D1422 Wonderful Friend

As you can see, there are a variety of really great images in this set. I used the tie to create a funky background using Sweet Leaf and Twilight inks. LOVE that color combo! You know, as I look at it, I think with a bit of trimming that tie could look like a canoe paddle, too! I'll have to give that one a try! But I digress. After creating the background I stamped the frame and message, a strip of the argyle and a single argyle. These pieces are layered with black cardstock to make the colors POP! It's hard to tell in the photo, but I also added a bit of our new Glitz Glitter Glue in Stardust on the cross lines in the argyle. You NEED to try our Glitz Glitter Glue! It's so easy and adds such a nice accent to just about anything! No fuss, no muss!
