Distressed Much? ~ March Technique Hop

Welcome to our Monthly Technique Hop. This month our featured technique is distressing. Distressing can come in many forms so you will see a lot of great ideas as you go through the hop. the blog before mine belongs to Alyson Mayo. Click the links in each post to continue along on the hop. It's just that easy!

I recently had the pleasure of spending the day with my granddaughter on day off from school. As is usually part of the day together we craft and we cook! Today she decided she wanted to make a fruit salad to go with our lunch. I remembered to snap a few photos during the process and ended up making this page for her scrapbook.

There are two different distressing techniques on this layout. They've both been around a long time and it was fun to pull them out of the past to use for this hop! The first one is the edge distressing on the edges of the photo mats. I still have our CTMH Edge Distresser but you an also do this with the edge of a scissor blade. You simple rub the  sharp edge along the cardstock, photo or whatever you want to distress. You get a nice roughed up edge that adds a nice touch to the project.

The second technique is ink distressing. For this you take the open ink pad and gently rub it  against the edge of the cardstock occasionally rubbing a bit of ink onto the front of the cardstock. For a contrast I used Raspberry ink on the Smoothie patterned paper.

I completed the layout with a Journal box which I layered in Dreamy Holographic paper. This paper picks up a lot of the color from around it and adds a pretty element to the page. The final steps were to add a Cricut cut chef hat and some bling. For the bling I used our Liquid Glass and dotted around the journal box then sprinkled the stars on top and tapped off the extra much like you do with glitter. It really gives a nice random look to the confetti.
