What's Up Wednesday ~ Punch Magic!

Hello! What's Up this Wednesday is a technique for extending the length of width of a punch shape. Let's take a look at this simple technique!

I'm using the Rounded Rectangle Punch which is so useful and versatile! Start by punching the shape on a scrap of CS to make a stencil.

On the back of your project trace the inside the stencil. Move the stencil down and trace the new area. Want it longer? Move it down again and trace. Br sure to line up the opening to keep your sides lined up. this will keep your rectangle straight.

You now have a longer rectangle traced on your CS. 

Using the punch, line it up on the first tracing and punch. Move it down and line up the lines to punch for an extended shape. 

Now you have an extended Rounded Rectangle! You can see the size difference in the photo above. If you wanted a wider shape you just have to do the same thing but move the stencil the other direction to trace and punch!

Here is what I did with this idea. I backed the opening with some pretty DSP and add a sentiment, some butterflies and gems. Using black CS made a dramatic look and really pops those colors! 

What an easy way to make larger punched shapes! Give it a try and I bet you will be happy with your results!
