What's Up Wednesday ~ Cute Santa Card + Special Offer

It's What's Up Wednesday and this is a really fun card I know you'll enjoy and want to make! It was inspired by a card from Christie Crafts and I couldn't wait to make it myself. I did change a few things based on the supplies I have. That's what it's all about..... sharing and putting your own spin on it!

I started with stamping the hat in black for the outline and Cherry Cobbler for the inside. the next step was to cover the white "fur" parts with our Shimmery White Embossing Paste. Carefully use a palette knife to spread the paste without covering the lines. I also gave it a bit of a pat to make the uneven look. the shimmer doesn't show well in the photo but it's there and adds so much to the design! After the paste was dry I fussy cute the hat.

The Cherry Cobbler CS was given texture using the Softly Oven Embossing Folder. Now it's time to create the buckle out of a scrap piece of Gold Foil Sheet. I searched through my dies to find a size that would be proportionate for this size card (A2). I found it in the Tile Garden Dies. The 2 smallest squares were perfect. I nested them together on the foil. The smaller die is there simply to cut out the center of the larger die. Keep that center piece for a future project.

I backed the "buckle" with a piece of black CS for the belt and guide it down. I find guy works best on surfaces with texture. Now I glued the gold buckle piece. Using a tiny piece of gold foil I guard down the "tooth" of the buckle. Adding some gold gems for the button holes 8is a nice touch and ties the gold elements together in the design.

It's time to place the hat in the upper area of the card. I popped it up with Dimensionals to add depth to the design. It looks so much better when the layers aren't always flat on top of each other.  For a final touch I added the Holly sprig accent on the hat. It would look nice on the furry part, too, but with the paste on that part for this card I moved it up to the red area.

There you go! It's a really easy card to create and would be a good "production" card when you make your Christmas Cards. the only thing to remember is the drying time for the paste. However, do that part first and while it dries make the rest of the card. When the paste is dry do your fussy cut and add it to the card.  Depending on how many6 cards you make there may be no waiting time to slow down the process.

I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I did making it!
