Blackout Embossed Card

 Today I am doing another Blackout Embossed card. It might look difficult but truly is's not. I even did the fussier method of using markers instead of blending brushes. I took photos along the way so I hope that helps you and inspires you to give it a try!

This Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder is perfect for this technique. Nice deep impressions and beautiful images.

So to get started you emboss your image. Use the DEBOSSED side (the side where the images go in).

You can do the easy method for color by using blending brushes and creating a mix of colors on white cardstock. For this one I decided to use our Blends and color the flowers individually. It just takes a bit extra effort but looks beautiful. Here I've started coloring. It's a bit messy but that's ok. Just make sure to get all the sections colored. 

Now that all the images are colored in it's time for the magic to happen!!! The colors I used are: Lost Lagoon, Petunia Pop, Soft Sea Foam, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue and Highland Heather.

Using a well inked Black stamp pad rub it directly onto the cardstock. The high spots will catch the black ink. I start with a swiping motion and also use a circle motion to make sure I get all the high spots and cover the white. Sometime a bit of black catches on the colored part but that's ok.

How's that for some magic! I did see a couple light spots and touched them up with more black ink. I also noticed I missed a couple of spots on the flowers and touched them up with the markers. Now it's time to finish it for my card.

A simple mat using one of the colors was all it needed. I added a sentiment layer and some bling to finish it. You've goto to have some bling, right? Now don't you agree this is actually a pretty easy technique that gives you a dramatic look!  Give it a try!
