Flip Open Card

How are you today? I was feeling crafty so I made this card to share with you. It's a Fun Fold with a flip opening.  I'm using the colors for a team color challenge: Garden Green, Petal Pink and Highland Heather. It's a pretty combination and made me think of flowers. Let me know what you think.

I started with a regular size card base (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") with a top fold. The cardstock is our Two Tone Garden Green. I used the lighter side for the card front. With our Paper Trimmer, I cut 1" in on each side of the card front, stopping at the fold.  These strips were then glued down onto the card base.

I decorated the strips with a piece random stamped and colored with markers. The middle panel has a piece of DSP (Designer Series Paper) for a background. I die cut and colored images from the Delicate Whispers Bundle. The sentiment is on a punched circle.

To assemble I first stamped the bough in green in 1st and 2nd generation ink. To do this you ink once and stamp twice before cleaning your stamp. This gives some dimension and eye appeal. Then I layered on the circle and added the flower sprays. For the sprays I glued the bottom and popped up the top with Mini  Dimensionals. I love how this adds more dimension to the design. Finally, it was time to add a few gems to guide your eyes over the entire design. Polacing the gems is easy when you use our Taker Your Pick Tool. It has multiple tools you switch out as needed. For picking up and placing gems I like the flat paddle like tool.

On to the inside. When you lift the flap you find out the sides are stationary and only the center opens. Fun!

For the inside I added a piece of white card stock for writing a personal note. Apiece of the DSP and a strip of cardstock anchors the bottom. The tip of one of the floral sprays was stamped and colored like on the front keeping the theme going inside and out.

What do you think? Is this a design you'd make? It's a lot of fun and easy to do. Why not give it a try?

Flip Open Card ~ Color Dare #673

Are you ready for a new Color Dare Challenge? We have a bright and bold one for you this time.  Colors that will work for any theme for you to create any paper craft you like! You must use all 3 colors shown in the graphic below. Make sure your colors are a close match to those in the graphic. there are Free colors you can add to your project if you like. See the graphic for that info.

I wanted to go with a fall theme for my project and the Artistc Leaves gave me a chance to create a pretty look. I sponged the ink onto the stamp with Sponge Daubers giving it a softer look when stamped. For the Grape color I sponged on the ink then stamped on scrap paper before stamping the image on cardstock. This gave me a 2nd generation of ink that was not as bold and matched the tone of the other two colors a bit better.

The card is a top open design but the opening doesn't go all the way across the top. I scored the base (5.5" x 8.5") at the usual 4.25" to create a top fold card. Then I measured 1" in from the long edge and cut to the fold creating the strip along each side. This 1" strip is then adhered to the card so it doesn't open. Only the center section opens.

I wrapped some ribbon around the center section to act like a tab and indicate that is the part that opens. It's really more decorative than anything but adds a nice touch. The ribbon was adhered with Tear & Tape adhesive as were the strips on each side of the card front. The leaf and the sentiment are popped up on Stampin' Dimensional foam.

Here' a close up showing how pretty the colors work together on the leaf. Because of the texture on the leaf and sponging on the color you get this soft look. The leaf was fussy cut which I don't like doing but sometimes you just have to do it that way. Ha ha.

This is a look at the inside of the card. You can see how it's only the center that opens. Isn't it fun how the side strips are there to add to both the front and inside of the card.

What do you think about this Flip Opening for a card? I think it's a lot of fun! Give it a try AND give our Color Dare Challenge a try, too! We get you started with the colors and you take it from there! Have fun!
