Ok, one more card in the dramatic black and foil style. I'm sure I'll have others down the line, but the three I've shared so far are my first ones.
I wanted to try out our new Reverse Plate with the Hot Foil system. I love this plate and the fact you can use both the positive and negative hot foil images. No waste!
This card featured the new Buffalo Check hot foil die in the background and the lustrous leaves as my focal image. You can see the beautiful detail in the leaves and gold foil. Creating a spray of leaves in the upper corner draws in your eyes and then they shift to the sentiment also gold foil. This tie the sentiment is done with the Reverse Plate. You can tell by the way the letters are in black surrounded by the gold foil.
This is a copper version of the design. This time I used leaves from the positive and negative hot foil images. The Reverse plate created the leaves with black lines and mostly copper. I love the leaves together!
This is the Buffalo Check Hot Foil die. It's a full 4" x 6" in size! I knew as soon as I saw it I NEEDED it!
Once again the Lustrous Leaves set catches my attention. The dark images are the Hot Foil dies. The other is for die cutting. The larger leaves are grouped into one die each and can be die cut to get all 5 leaves at once! The smaller leaves are individual images to hot foil.
This is the Reverse Plate. It's a smooth plate that doesn't create an image itself. You create your "sandwich" (once hot) with first your left over hot foil piece (save those "scraps" from your first pass). This time you'l be creating the image that has a lot of the foil on it.
Back to the sandwich.
Above you see a photo with the "scrap" foil from my first pass with the Buffalo Check die. Now I'm going to use it to make another hot foil piece so it's not wasted.
Place the Reverse Plate die on the hot foil heater and heat it. It takes about 5 minutes. When it beeps place the hot foil scrap COPPER SIDE DOWN (face down). Lay your CS on top of the foil. Next is the green plat then the clear plate. Let it sit on the heater like this for about 15 seconds. Now unhook the cord and run it through the Stamp Emboss Machine cranking the handle slowly.
I think about cranking like this. It's like the turtle and the rabbit. when hot foiling I'm a turtle when cranking. when die cutting I'm a rabbit and crank faster.
Once you've put it through the embossing machine gently peel the clear layer of the foil off. If you notice some "unfinished" areas as you're peeling, stop, lay the clear layer back down, place the sandwich on the heater again for 20-30 seconds then crank it through the machine again. When you peel the clear layer this time it should be foiled perfectly! Now you can use it as you like.
I hope this helps regarding the Reverse Plate. I really love it and am so happy to have it in my stash. Now I won't have any wasted foil! Plus I get twice the images!
Thanks for stopping by.
