Technique Hop ! Back to the Basics

Welcome to our monthly Technique Hop. This month is all about the basics. If you're new to stamping you'll delight in all the ideas you see. If you're a long time stamper it's great to be reminded about basic thing we don't always remember to use!

The blog before me on the hop belongs to Wendy Kessler. Click the links in each blog to continue along for more great ideas.

My basic technique is to show how to add color using the Stamp Roll technique. It's easy to do and really adds a nice touch to your projects.  On my layout using the stamp roll technique is perfect for the fall leaves. I used the October Stamp of the Month: Autumn Air. Don't you love those two toned leaves? Another basic technique is to distress the edges with the blade of your scissors. You just scrape it along the edge and it adds a nice details to your cardstock. Another basic technique is to use embellishments to accent your projects. Here I've used Loose Gold Sequins.

This photo shows the difference between the stamped images and the stamp rolled image. First I stamped the outline. The yellow and orange leaves are stamped as usual. The third leaf was stamp rolled. You stamp in the lighter color first then gently roll the edge of the stamp in the darker color. Then you stamp the image. The final image is the completed leaf.
