What's Up Wednesday ~ Cute As A Bug Diorama Card

Welcome to What's Up Wednesday! This week I have a fun What's Up project called a Diorama Card. I made this card as part of a Make & Take at our local Team Meeting. It's a 3D card that fold flat and is still the size of an A2 card (5-1/2" x 4-1/4"). Let's dive in.....

Card Base:

For this card we started with a CS base 7-1/2" x 4-1/4". This piece is scored along the long side at 1-1/8", 2-1/4", 5-1/4" & 6-3/8". 

You'll also need one front strip in matching CS 1" x 5-1/4"

DSP (Designer Series Paper):

• 7/8" x 5-1/8" (glue to front strip)
• 2 pieces coordinating DSP 1" x 4-1/8" (glue to opposite sides facing out)
• 2 pieces coordinating DSP 1" x 4-1/8" (glue to opposite sides facing in)

Basic White CS:

• 1 piece 2-7/8" x 4-1/8" (stamp and glue to center of base) *wait to glue if you want to write a message first.

Once you've done all the cutting and scoring glue the various pieces as shown in the photo above. Of course you can use any colors and DSP you like. This particular card has only a stamped sentiment. The rest of the decorations are die cut images from the DSP paper sheet with all the bugs. The coordinating dies fit the images on the DSP! 

When you're ready to add the band across the bottom add glue to the outside ends only and glue to the card. You want the middle space on the band to be free. Add your die cuts to the band and even tuck some behind the band for fun! For this card we used Mini Dimensionals to pop them up. 

A bow tied with Linen Thread was added with a glue Dot. Gems would make a nice addition, too. 

When you want to put it in an envelope gently flatten the card to the left or right. Now it's going to fit in the envelope!
