Welcome to our latest color challenge from our Design Team at Color Dare. Every Friday we give you a new palette of colors to get you started on a project. Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join our challenge use the direct link below.
For this challenge you must use at least 3 of the colors shown in our graphic. Make sure your colors are a very close match. We do give you the option of some Free colors to use with the graphic colors, but Do Not add more colors beyond those seen in the graphic and Free colors.
My project ended up using all 4 colors in the graphic. I did add a gray toned ribbon from the Free colors as well as white card stock.
Since the purple is bold I wanted to use just pops of it. I kept that to the card base and stamped sentiments. the other 3 colors were perfect for the flowers and leaves.
After using our Stampin' Positioner to get perfectly stamped images, the leaves were die cut. I used a blending brush to add the darker green for shadowing. The flowers also die cut then colored with a water painter brush and ink from the stamp pad.
The white layer is dry embossed with my favorite folder: Forever Plaid. This is a 3D embossing folder and gives great texture to your projects. I tipped the card stock a bit to get an angled look to the plaid. Fun!
The ribbon was wrapped around the top two layers and adhered to the back. Next I tucked the die cuts behind the ribbon. Then I tied the bow and secured with a glue dot. I find glue dots work best on ribbon rather than other adhesives.
Once the front was all put together, I painted the flowers with Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle. Everything looks better with some sparkle, right? Also, I used Mini Dimensionals on the flowers to make them pop up a bit for some dimension. The leaves are adhered directly to the card front. A few gems and a popped up sentiment finished the look. By the way, the sentiment was punched out making it very quick and easy.
The inside is simple with a small flower stamped and colored to keep the theme going. I didn't use Wink of Stella on the inside as it just rubs off when the card is closed.
Here is our graphic showing you what colors to work with. Remember to make your colors a close match to those in the graphic and don't use extra colors!
We can't wait to see how our colors inspire your creativity! Have fun!
