What's Up Wednesday ~ Bendy Card Fun!

This week for What's Up Wednesday I'm going to show you a fun Bendy Card!This kind of card has a curve to it which makes it able to stand up on its own. This is a card that doesn't fold in the usual way. You just lay it flat and slide it in the envelope that way. What a fun surprise!

This card is what you might call a Mini Bendy card. It's the same size as a standard A2 (4-1/4" x 5-1/2"). Most of the Bendy cards I've seen online are 5" x7". Either way it's fun and easy.

Card stock pieces are the following:

• 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" base, scored at 2-3/4" 
• 2" x 4-1/2" inside, scored at 2-1/4" in the middle and 1/2" from each end for tabs
• 1-1/4" x 6-1/2" strip, scored 1/2" from each end for tabs

When adding DSP just make the sizes 1/4" smaller for height and width up to the 1/2" tabs

Burnish the score lines well after adding the DSP.

After all the DSP is glued to the card stock you're ready to assemble the card components. Using glue on the tabs for the inside piece place the fold on top of the base fold and line up the bottom edges. Tuck in the tabs and hold in place for a bit so the glue takes hold. 

For the strip, add glue to the tabs, lay the strip along the bottom of the card base and tuck in the tabs to line up on the outside edges. Hold in place for the glue to take hold. 

You have now made a Bendy card! I've added some die cut images to accent the card on the inside piece. The sentiment is a piece of ephemera I colored with our Stampin' Blend markers in an ombre effect.

The flowers and leaves were also colored with markers with the flowers being painted with Wink of Stella for a touch of shimmer. A few gems was the final touch.

Fancy Fun Fold Card

This is such a pretty card and a fun way to say Thank You. The design uses products from our new Scalloped Boutique Suite and they are beautiful! Let's dive in and take a look.

The card starts with a cardstock base that doesn't open. Here are all the measurements:

Card Front

• Base CS: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
• White CS: 4" x 5-1/4"
• DSP: 3" x 12"
• Scallop circles: 3-1/2",  2-3/4", 2"

Inside:

• CS : 2-1/4" x 4-1/4"
• CS: 2" x 4"

Extra CS for butterflies.

Glue the two larger CS pieces to form the base. 

SCORE the DSP at 3-1/4", 8-1/2" and 11". 

Fold back the 1" end of the DSP.

Center the DSP between the score marks and glue to the card base.

Glue the die cut circles to each other,

Close the DSP and with the 1" folded back glue the circles to this fold only. *See photo below.

Decorate with stamped and punched butterflies and some gems.

The inside is kept simple with layered CS and a butterfly. Since the gems are flat you can add one to this butterfly, too!

I love the DSP and how you get patterns on both the front and inside of the card! Pick your colors based on your DSP colors. This makes it simple and keeps it all coordinated.

Eclipse Card

Today I thought I'd try the Eclipse Card Fun Fold I've seen online. It really suite a pretty landscape type DSP but I look forward to trying it with any pretty pattern paper that speaks to me. 

The idea is quite simple: Trim your DSP to the size you want. Mine is 3-3/4" x 5". I also cut a piece of the dark green CS to the same size as a base for the eclipse. 

Now you cut your DSP into 1/2" strips. Keep the strips in order as you cut for when you assemble the eclipse.

Now you're ready to make the eclipse!

Starting at one end I glued the first strip to the CS. Using a scrap piece of CS 1/2" wide I used it as a place holder for the next spot and glued the 3rd piece of DSP onto the CS. Move your place holder and glue down the 5th piece of DSP and keep going this way until all the "flat" pieces are glued down. 

Now you're ready for the remains strips that are popped up with foam Dimensionals. I used the Mini Dimensionals. Working with the 2nd strip I added the Dimensionals then lined it up and put it in the place between strips 1 and 3. Take strip 4 I added the Dimensionals and placed it between strips 3 and 5. Keep going until all strips are in place. Doesn't this create a beautiful look?

Finish the card front as you wish. I kept mine simple to let the scene to the talking!

Inside the card I added a piece of the light CS and stamped a message. The added ribbon is a simple accent and ties the front and inside together.

Diamond Flap Fun Fold Card

This past weekend I was at a Team Meeting with my local group. The Team Leader was very gracious and adopted me since I didn't have any of my actual team in my area. It's a great group and I'm so thankful to be adopted! I still connect with my actual team online since they are long distance. It's really the best of both worlds! 

Anyway, at the Team Meeting one of the things we do is called Make & Takes. Several of the members volunteer to prep and teach a project. It's always fun to learn something new. 

This card is one of the Make & Takes and it was not only easy but just think of all the different looks you could create with this pattern!

Start with an A2 card base with a side fold on the short end. Fold the front to the center fold. Open and make a tick mark at 2-1/8". Cut from the fold to the tick mark on each side creating a point on the card front. 

Use DSP (3" x 4") for the left side of the front. On this card a white square of CS (3") goes on top with the square lined up with the point of the card front. Layer on top of this as you like. 

Here, the sentiment is a banner with a notch cut on the right end and popped up on a foam Dimensional. 

Some flowers, leaves were stamped and die cut for decorating. a tiny Pearl was added to the one flower center.

On the inside of the card there is an embossed panel that shows on the front, too. It adds so much great details! Another piece of DSP was added to the inside with a narrow strip of CS for fun. 

See it's not as hard as you'd think! Why not give it a try?

Arrow Fold Card ~ Color Dare #697

I had so much fun sharing my Arrow Fold card the other day I made another one. This time it's for our Color Dare Challenge. Click here to see Arrow Fold card with directions.

This Color Dare Challenge is using Shades of Yellow plus ONE color of your choice. The color of choice should not be one of the Free colors we give you to use if you like. See the graphic below for details.

I used a couple shades of yellow (challenge colors), gray and white (Free colors) and green (color of choice).

 I kept the image simple to go along with this challenge. Just a touch of yellow for the beak was all the duck needed. A little green grass for my color of choice and the focal image was done. I used a punch for the mat and image shape. Since they were the same size I cut the gray mat in half and glued it to the duct layer so it showed at the top and bottom.

The inside of the card was left blank so I can write a personal message to the recipient. I may add an image or two once the message is there, depending on how much room is there.

What's Up Wednesday ~ Arrow Fold Card

 Welcome to my blog! Today I'm sharing a Fun Fold pattern I just love to make....and....it's easy, too! It's called an Arrow Fold and with just a couple of quick measurements you have this amazing look!

I've used our March Product of the Month called Notes of Spring. It's an adorable stamp set with woodland animals. Bonus....each animal has its own solid image to quick color it! Of course you can use the outline and color by hand, too. Versatility is fun! With a qualifying order ($75) you can get this exclusive set for only $5! But it's only available during March!

Take a look at this fun inside view! I love how the card pattern looks on the inside. This truly is a fun fold card!

Ok on to the measurements! With a pencil, mark on the inside front of the card base. Measure across the bottom to 2-3/4" (center of card width). Next, measure up the side to 2-1/8". You do not need to draw the line. I just did that to make it easier to see what's happening. OK, SCORE from the side mark to the bottom mark on each side. Next SCORE from the upper corner to the bottom mark. That's it!

For the other layers use a piece of Design Paper  5" x 4" and white card stock 5" x 4". Mark at 2-1/2" on the long side. CUT from the bottom mark to the upper corner on both sides.

Creating the arrow fold: On the score line from the upper corner to the bottom FOLD to the inside. glue to the card front. On the score line from the 2-1/8" mark to the bottom FOLD to the outside. Glue to card front being careful to only out glue along the inside edge. Now do the same on the other side. Ta-da! You now have an arrow fold. 

Use the other pieces to decorate as seen in the photos. For the front I added a layer with the cute fawn. I punched the white and green card stock. since they are the same size I cut the green in half and glued them together with the green showing a the top and bottom for a layered look. As you can see, I also used a few of the images on the inside, too.

Flip Open Card

How are you today? I was feeling crafty so I made this card to share with you. It's a Fun Fold with a flip opening.  I'm using the colors for a team color challenge: Garden Green, Petal Pink and Highland Heather. It's a pretty combination and made me think of flowers. Let me know what you think. 

I started with a regular size card base (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") with a top fold. The cardstock is our Two Tone Garden Green. I used the lighter side for the card front. With our Paper Trimmer, I cut 1" in on each side of the card front, stopping at the fold.  These strips were then glued down onto the card base. 

I decorated the strips with a piece random stamped and colored with markers. The middle panel has a piece of DSP (Designer Series Paper) for a background. I die cut and colored images from the Delicate Whispers Bundle. The sentiment is on a punched circle.

To assemble I first stamped the bough in green in 1st and 2nd generation ink. To do this you ink once and stamp twice before cleaning your stamp. This gives some dimension and eye appeal. Then I layered on the circle and added the flower sprays. For the sprays I glued the bottom and popped up the top with Mini  Dimensionals. I love how this adds more dimension to the design. Finally, it was time to add a few gems to guide your eyes over the entire design. Polacing the gems is easy when you use our Taker Your Pick Tool. It has multiple tools you switch out as needed. For picking up and placing gems I like the flat paddle like tool.

On to the inside. When you lift the flap you find out the sides are stationary and only the center opens. Fun! 

For the inside I added a piece of white card stock for writing a personal note. Apiece of the DSP and a strip of cardstock anchors the bottom. The tip of one of the floral sprays was stamped and colored like on the front keeping the theme going inside and out.

What's Up Wednesday ~ Triple Fold Card

Welcome to What's Up Wednesday! This week I have a Fun Fold Card to share with you. I'm not sure if there is an official name for this card so I am calling it a Triple Fold Card. 

This is a great time to use a pattern from the Beautiful Gallery DSP Pack. Pick your pattern and cut the 6" square piece in half vertically. Now you have a 3: by 6: piece. Cut this piece into two 3" squares. Set this aside. One more DSP piece is needed for the bottom panel. This piece is 4.25" X 2.75" and can be from the leftover piece of DSP or a different piece that goes with your colors/theme.

Cardstock cuts: Base = 4/25" x 11", Mats (2) 3.25" square, White: 3.25" x 2".

Scoring: Score the card base placing it the long way on your device. Move the left edge to 2.5" and score. Move the left edge to 3.75" and score. Move the edge to 6.75" and core. Finally, move the edge to 8.25" and score. Accordion fold the score lines so the card folds onto itself.

Stamp a sentiment to the DS

P that will be used on the top of the card front and a sentiment on the white CS for the "inside" of the card. Glue the DSP squares to the mats. Glue the smaller DSP piece onto the bottom section of the card base lining it up just below the fold. Glue the White CS to the bottom of the card lining it up just below the fold. 

To add the matted DSP pieces you need to be careful of where you place the adhesive. For. the middle matted piece put your glue on the top, half way down the sides and across the middle. Close the card  so the middle section is showing and the white CS is peeking out from under the fold. Now you can line up the middle piece bottom with the bottom edge of the white sentiment layer below.  Rub the middle piece to secure the glue to the base. 

Close the card all the way and place the top matted DSP onto the top section about a .25" from the top and lining up the sides to the matted piece in the middle. 

Add your embellishments.
