Cute Border Card ~ Color Dare #598

Today I'm sharing a fun border card  that is simple to make with some Thin Cut dies. Using the Pink, Green Yellow theme from our Color Dare Challenge for color choices made this even easier to create!

I die cut the small flowers and leaves using both sides of the cardstock to show some slight contrast of color. The yellow cardstock was embossed for some fun texture. Some of the flowers are popped up on foam tape for dimension.

See below for a list of products used on this card.

Atlantic Hearts sketch Challenge #567

Welcome to our first sketch challenge of March! Each Monday there is a new sketch to inspired you. Create with the sketch as is or flip, flop, twist, rotate as you please! We just need to be able to see the sketch in your project.

I stayed pretty true to the sketch this time. I used a pretty pattern paper from our current Gnomes for Spring promotion. Since there is so much detail in the paper I kept the images simple by using solid cardstock colors.

The images were cut using our new and fantastic Decorative Shapes Thin Cut dies. You better get yours right now because I predict these will be so poplar as to sell out quickly! There are 18 fun shapes that nest with each other or look great on their own.

See below for links to products used for this card.

Sprigs & Leaves Card ~ Color Dare #558

It's time for a Color Dare Tic Tac Toe Color Challenge! For this particular color challenge we ask you to pick your colors by row, column or diagonal. After that you can use more colors from the grid. You can even use them all! What you can't do is add colors not shown in the grid. See the graphic below for the fine print rules.

We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join our challenge click here.

For my card I used the first column of colors: Melon, Seabrook and Lagoon. I also used a touch of Silver.

Using our Thin Cut dies and an embossing folder I created the overall look based on a card made by Karen Jones. I kept the embossed layer a full panel length equal to the card size. I love the tone on tone look of the white.

The leaves are cut from the Sprigs & Leaves Thin Cuts and the circle from the Cozy Up Cardmaking Workshop. It's actually a quick and easy card to make. It can fit any occasion by just changing out the sentiment.

Other products used for this card:

Geometric Layout ~ Color Dare #551

Today I'm sharing a one page layout for Color Dare #551. For this color challenge you must use all 3 of the colors featured in the graphic below. See the fine print for the rules.

We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join the challenge click here for the direct link.

Since the 3 colors required for this challenge are bold I decided to keep the layout fairly simple. With a Charcoal Cardstock base it helped the 3 colors really pop!  Using the Square Patterns Thin Cut dies (link is below) I cut a lot of squares in various sizes and colors. Then it was just a matter of laying them out in a random pattern along the left side of the page.

After adding the photos, stacking them in an overlapped style like the squares, I added the title. The title was cut with an old retired set of thin cuts, but any alphabet would do here.

The final step was adding sequins! I happened to still have some retired sequins that had the 3 colors of the challenge. Although gold sequins would have worked and was my original plan, I switched gears when I found the other sequins. What a nice surprise that was.

Butterfly Card ~ Color Dare #542

Welcome to the our latest color challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare. Each Friday we go live with a new challenge to get you started. Create Any paper craft you like. We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count.

When you're ready to join our challenge click here for the direct link.

For this challenge you need to use at least 3 of the 7 colors in the graphic. I ended up using 4 of the colors: Seabrook, Periwinkle, Peach and Shortbread.

The Seabrook layer is dry embossed with a the folder (link below). The butterfly is completely made with the Thin Cut dies and cardstock.  The body of the butterfly is Shortbread cardstock then painted with Shortbread Shimmer Brush

The sentiments and small butterfly are from the Life's a Hoot Cardmaking Workshop stamp set. Exclusive Inks used are Periwinkle and Peach. There is a layer of Vellum under the butterfly. This softens the colors in the background making the butterfly stand out a bit more.

The wings of the butterfly are popped up with some Thin Foam Tape giving a bit of dimension. I also added some Clear Sparkles  and Bitty Sparkles to the butterfly. All of this went on a card base from our White Cards and Envelopes Value Pack. This is a great item to have in your stash so you're always ready to make a card when needed.

Yummy Card ~ Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Welcome to a new sketch from our team at Atlantic Hearts! We get you started with a sketch to use for any paper craft you like. You can twist, turn, rotate, flip, flop the sketch.....you get the idea. We just need to be able to see the sketch in your design. When you're ready to join the challenge (it goes live on Wednesday) use the link below.

I've been wanting to use this stamp set, Eat Chocolate (link below),  but just didn't feel it was a good fit for the other projects I was working on. This time it felt right and I got busy stamping and die cutting.

The box for the candy is cut with a Thin Cut die and it has this really clever slit around two of the side so you can slip the candy under the edge of the box. This makes it look more realistic don't you think? I stamped various candies on pattern paper from the Life's a Hoot Paper Pack (link below) to get variety in pattern and colors then die cut them. For a final touch I sprinkled some Iridescent Flower Confetti around the card.

I used a piece of Vellum to lay over the top of the candy box like the when you open it up. It was perfect for the sentiment. The box and a couple of the candies are popped up with Thin Foam Tape.

Pretty Daisy Card + Envelope ~ Color Dare #533

Welcome back for a fun color challenge! For this challenge you need to use at least 5 of the colors in the graphic below. You can also use any neutral or metallic color but those don't count as part of the "at least 3 colors".

We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count.

Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join the challenge click here!

This project is also being shared with Double Trouble: Challenge #130 Keep Us in Stitches.

I was inspired by a card made by Valerie - Sure Scraps A lot. I loved the way she used the dark background to make the flowers really pop! Here is my spin on the idea!

I thought the bolder colors in our challenge would work best for the contrast on black. I stamped in black and colored with TriBlend Markers (True Blue Blend, Burnt Orange Blend, Citrus Green Blend). I did the shading on the images with ease because each marker has 3 shades of one color in each barrel. I used the light and medium shades.

Cardstock colors are White Daisy, Black, Capri, Nectarine. I also decorated the flap of the envelope with our new Thin Cut Dies (comes in 2 sizes) and stamp set to add some pretty flowers. What a fun surprise when you go to open the envelope!

Other products used for this card include:

Scroll down for more links below the photos.

Color My Heart Color Dare #533

Thin Foam Tape was used to pop up some of the flowers to give some dimension. Glitter Glue was used for the flower centers.
