Framed Violets Card ~ Color Dare #718

 Hello and welcome to a new color challenge from our team at Color Dare. Each Friday we give you a new palette of colors to inspire your creativity. Use our challenge colors to make any paper craft you like. Make sure your colors are a close match. More details are in the graphic seen below.

The purple steered me toward the Framed Violets set. I love Violets! Pairing the colors with a sketch and it came together nicely. 

Once I had the flowers colored with ink and a water painter I die cut the flowers and the oval. Next up wad the pieces behind the oval. The sizes are ad follows:  3/4" x 4-3/4" CS, 1" x 4" CS,  2" x 3" DSP. 

The sentiment is from our new Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies withy Gold Foil. I do a bunch at once and keep them in a container so they are ready to go!

A few Dots for accents and the front is done!

Here is what the inside looks like. I wanted to bring in the DSP to the inside so I kept it simple. Since it's a notecard I add a sentiment. I'll write a custom message when I use it.

This is the finished project. I glued a piece of the DSP to the envelope flap for a pretty surprise when they go to open it. Fun, right?

Happy Birthday Card ~ Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 691

 Are you ready for a fun sketch to get you started on your creative journey? Each Monday our team gives you a new sketch. You create any paper craft you like using our sketch. You can do whatever you like to the sketch: change shapes, rotate, flip....whatever. We just need to be able to see it in your project. have fun!

This time I rotated the sketch. I also altered the shapes a bit and moved the sentiment and added a couple details. It's ll ok because you can still recognize the sketch!

Using our new Rounded Rectangle Punch made it easy to get my shapes, both patterned and black for the shadow. I love a good quick and easy method! 

The white layer gives separation between the rectangles and card base. It also makes the rectangles pop! Inking the edges in black makes the white pop, too. 

The balloon was die cut and popped up on Dimensionals. As you can see, the edges were also inked for dimension. The withe highlight was painted in Wink of Stella for some sparkle. 

The sentiment layer is popped up and white embossed, keeping with the theme. A few germs and it was done!

Fern & Flora Card

Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I'm sharing a card using the Moonlit Flora Suite. the colors in this DSP are so deep and rich. Just looking at it you can imagine walking through a forest.

I paired this suite with a sketch I came across online. It's a simple sketch which worked perfectly with this DSP sine there is so much detail in it. 

Let's take a look at what I created.

After cutting the front panels and laying them on the Golden Glow card base I decided it didn't stand out enough. Inking the edges in back made them pop just enough without being too much. I got busy die cutting the various pieces I wanted to use. By the way, I always cut a few extra. I use them inside the card or have a few on hand in case I need more on the front than I thought. Save some time and cut extra!

I added some ribbon to border the bottom of the sentiment and some gems (not in the suite) to finish the design. Do you have our Take Your Pick Tool? It has different tips to change in and out for a variety of purposes. My favorite uses are with the pick end for removing the backing on Dimensionals. It also works great for picking up and placing gems. The spatula tip or putty tips also work great on placing gems! This is one versatile tool always within reach on my desktop.

I used a leftover piece of the DSP for the inside along with some white CS. As you can see, I kept is consistent with the front and inked the edges as well as putting some space between the pieces. My extra die cuts worked great inside the card.

Here's the sketch I used. I love that it has the measurements on it ad that makes it extra easy to use the sketch!

Sketch Challenge Card

 This card was made for a team sketch challenge. I did rotate the sketch because I felt the vertical presentation worked better for my design. 

The flower was made by stamping on a piece of DSP from the Full of Life pack. The front of the DSP is bold but on the back you'll find a more muted pattern of color. I used the back of a paper that had the pink, blue and green shades. After stamping in black ink I used water painters to finish coloring the flower.

Since the flower already had a base of color I didn't need to use the first stencil which lays down the base color. I skipped to the 2nd stencil and added color in the pink and blue tones. Next, I used the 3rd stencil for the small details on the flowers. The same was followed for the leaves. Stamping on the DSP gave a beautiful depth to the colors, don't you think?

Sketch Challenge Card

#SCJUN2024

 I decided to play along with our Luv2Stamp group sketch challenge for June. It's a simple sketch with so many possibilities!

Starting with some DSP (Designer Series Paper) I laid out the background and focal layers. I wanted to keep the look masculine since I have some guy birthdays next month. To get the rounded edge I used some dies and partially rolled it into the die cutting machine enough to just get that one edge cut.

As you can see I turned the sketch and moved the sentiment to the banner.
