Color Dare #174 Desert Sand, Poppy and New England Ivy

Welcome to the first Color My Heart color dare of 2016!
We not only have a new color dare but also new Close To My Heart products at our fingertips! That just makes for some fun creating!

This color dare challenges us with the colors of Desert Sand, Poppy and New England Ivy. Right away my mind thought these colors were a perfect match with the new Stuck on You stamp set and Thin Cuts! Thin Cuts are thin metal dies that you use to cut out the image by running it through a Cuttlebug type machine. You can cut before stamping and then stamp the image, or stamp the image and then cut it out with the Thin Cut dies. I find better success with stamping first.

I inked the pots and did the stamp rolling technique to give some detail. To do this just ink the stamp and stamp on scrap paper, then ink again but only roll part of the stamp on the stamp pad. You get a nice shadow effect this way. The cactus images and flowers were colored with a blending pen and ink from the lid of the ink pad. One detail hard to see is the line of holes I poked along the edge of the Desert Sand cardstock. I used our ruler wit the guide holes and a piercing tool. A bit of Coral Shimmer Trim and some gems and I called it done!
