Color Dare #180 ~ Reds + Black and White Plus a Joint Challenge

We are really excited about the joint challenge venture we have for you this week! We are partnering with another fabulous Close to My Heart challenge blog, Heart 2 Heart challenges to reward some lucky participants for entering both of these challenges by the Color Dare deadline of Thursday, February 18 at 9PM CST.

The Color Dare challenge is to combine Black, White Daisy and any 1, 2 or 3 of the following reds: Pomegranate, Ruby and Cranberry.

The Heart 2 Heart themed challenge is “Share the Love” which you can interpret to mean something with hearts and love messages or something with the February Constant Campaign “Share the Love” stamp set or something else that reminds you of a “Share the Love” theme.

We would love to have you “Share the Love” with both challenge blogs. Please be sure to check out the rules page of H2H here and the Color Dare rules on the right side of this page.
There will be a random prize drawing on Friday, February 19 for those who have entered both challenges. (Please use a direct link to your blog post and link back to both of our blogs). You can also share your work with us at the Color My Heart Color Dare Community FB page and then copy that URL to paste it into the Linky tool for both of our blogs.

Now it's time to show you what I created for this fun joint challenge! Sharing flowers always means a loving feeling....at least I think so! This card was inspired and adapted from a card by Debbi Pehl Fournier, one of my consultant uplines.
This is a 5"x7" side fold card that I cut 3/4" off the right side of the card front. The paper with the black and white herringbone is actually on the inside of the card! The flowers and leaves were cut from our Cricut Artistry cartridge. The white flowers were backed with a small piece of black cardstock for the center of the flowers then I added some dots of Liquid Glass for some shine. The message and ink blots were stamped on the white cardstock and then embossed with the Floral folder. A bit of sponging on the white flowers was done to tie the colors together. Some red enamel gems completed the look!

I ended up with extra flowers and leaves and I just loved the look of the card.....so I made a layout with the left overs! You can kind of see the lines I made using the edge of a block. I just tapped it on an ink pad and the pulled it across the cardstock! Otherwise, everything is the same as on the card.

  2. Love everything about your card, the embossing, the floral arrangement, the ink splatters, the die-cut made from the Design paper. And then what a way to use your left overs on your lovely framed layout. I usually end up with left-over, left over. Both projects are beautiful.

    1. Thank you, Sue. It felt good right from the start of putting it together. I love that feeling. And the layout turned out equally as well. My husband really liked both, too!
