Birthday Layout ~ Tic Tac Toe Challenge Color Dare #386

You know what Friday means!!! A new color challenge from the design team at Color My Heart Color Dare and this week we have one of our super fun Tic Tac Toe Challenges!

You pick your colors the same way you play Tic Tac Toe by row, column or diagonal. After that you can add some of the other colors from the palette if you like.  Don't add any brand new colors to the palette or we'll have to disqualify your entry. That really makes us sad. Please don't make us sad.

NOTE: We reference Close To Your Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. "Close enough" doesn't count so please make a good match.

For my layout I used colors from the top row: Carolina, French Vanilla, Julep. Then I added the colors in the bottom row: Toffee, Peach, Mink. These colors were prefect for the photos of my grandson's birthday so I was ready to create!

I used pattern 7 from our How-to Book called Make It from Your Heart, Volume 3. Now I have the colors and a pattern so it's time to get busy!

After moving cardstock around I decided how I wanted to use the colors and started cutting and gluing. The balloons and words are Cricut cuts and add a nice touch for the theme. I dressed up the plain balloons with some freehand Stickles. Plus it gives some sparkle to the layout without making it to girly.

Speaking of Cricut, I now have an affiliate link for you to use. It's in the upper right corner of my blog. When you use my link you have access to all the usual library of Cricut images/cartridges PLUS all the Close To My Heart cartridges both current AND retired! Using my link is the only way you have access to the retired cartridges.

For the balloon strings I used some 3D Thin Foam Tape to pop the balloons up a bit to make room for the twine. I glued the end to the back of the balloon and wrapped it around the stem then anchored the  loose end with a Glue Dot. For the trio of balloons the bottom two are not popped up so I just glued that end of the string onto the balloon face since it would be hidden. The top balloon is done like the single balloon. I gathered the strings and tied with another piece of tie then with a piercing tool I pulled it through the ends to fray it. A Glue Dot secured the knot to the layout.
