It's March 15th so that means a new Technique Hop! This month we're featuring Altered Wooden Shapes. The blog before mine belongs to Haley Dyer. Click the link in each post to hop to the next blog for more great ideas!
We have a nice variety of these shapes in our Core Catalog and sometimes in our Bi-monthly catalog, too. They are beautiful in the natural wood tone but can be used in so many ways beyond that! I decided to use the largest wood heart that is open to make a shaker element. The other solid hearts were painted with a shimmer brush. Let's take a look!
Here is the shaker heart with some Bitty Beads inside. I took the colors from the paper in the background. First I glued the acetate to the heart with Tombow Liquid Glue. After it was dry I used a craft knife to cut around the edge. After adding the beads I glued a piece of white cardstock to the back and did the same trimming once it was dry.
The left side of the card has more hearts that were painted with the shimmer brush. I also added some layers for the sentiment. They were cut with a Thin Cut Die making it very easy. I added some Stickles Glitter Glue to accent the flowers and scalloped edge.
I love the Slimline Thin Cut used for this card. It creates all kinds of ways you can use it with pattern or solid papers.
