Here is a cute and simple card I made in quick time. I find myself drawn to CAS cards more and more often.
I'm sharing this card with the following challenge blogs:
Double Trouble - Challenge #111 (use Kraft/brown bag paper, dots and/or stripes)
Heart 2 Heart - Splatter It (use splatters)
The Crafter's Cafe (use spots or stripes)
I started with a card from our White Cards and Envelopes Value Pack. This is a must have item! You never know when you need to make a card on the quick and this helps keep you ready!
I splattered the card front with Shimmer Brushes (Red, Green Apple) then started building my layers. The watermelon was stamped with Exclusive Inks (Candy Apple, Green Apple) and cut out. It's popped up on some Thin Foam Tape to give some dimension to the overall look.
I cut the tag from Kraft cardstock and layered it with some White Daisy Cardstock so the melon would stand out more. The sentiment is stamped in Exclusive Inks (Candy Apple, Green Apple) with stamp rolling for the red part. Onyx Pearls were used for the seeds.
A piece of Shimmer Trim (Clover) adds a nice bit of sparkle. The edges of the white layer were inked with Candy Apple ink to define that layer from the others.
Finally a large Black Dot was placed at the top of the tag tying in with the black seeds.

I like the simplicity of your design - a tag is great option for a card front. CAS is a style all its own and not always easy to achieve. Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble :)

DeleteMichelle, I love how you tie all your card elements together using color... from the watermelon to the splatters and red drawn lines... very clever!! Using the little pearls for the watermelon seeds is a great embellishment trick! Thank you for sharing your card and creative talents with us at Double Trouble!!! -Donna
ReplyDeleteMichelle I love this! Your melon is perfect and all the added touches such as the green glitter and using a tag as the back drop are all great!
ReplyDeleteLove the technique you used for the watermelon stamping, and is a nice pop against the Kraft tag. C&S and a fun card. Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble and Crafter's Cafe.
