Twisted Ribbon Card ~ Color Dare #537

Time for some Friday fun! Here is our new color challenge from our Design Team at Color My Heart Color Dare. You MUST use Grape then pick ONE of the 3 colors shown to go with Grape. See the fine print for the details. 

We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join our challenge click here for the direct link.

I decided to use Lagoon with Grape. I love that combo and felt the Twisted Ribbon technique would be a great way to show off the colors. See the photos and directions below.

Color Dare #537

The twisted Ribbon technique is actually quite simple. Cut your base layer for the size you like. Here my grape layer is 2 1/2" x 5 1/2". Starting at the 1/2" mark, I made pencil marks on the base layer every 3/4" on both the long edges.

The strips of pattern paper are 3/4" x 3 1/2" for the ribbon. Make your pencil marks the same as the narrow size of the strip.  Starting with the grape strip I laid it on the base at an angle with the top of the left side touching the first pencil mark and the top of the right end touching the 2nd pencil mark.

Keep going with the other grape strips. Now the only pencil marks you can see are one at the bottom left and top right.

Lay the Lagoon strips on top of the grape strips. Start the top strip with the bottom right edge on the pencil park and the bottom left edge meeting the grape edge as shown above. Keep going with that pattern. Once finished trim the excess along the edges. Now you're ready to finish your project. This is a great way to use up scraps that accumulate!
