What's Up Wednesday ~ Rustic Scenic Coast Card

Here is different look for the Sunset Coast Bundle. A bit more rustic looking with the country Woods DSP rather than the Scenic Coast DSP with the colorful sunsets. This is a great look and would be a wonderful card for a guy, especially if he was into boats.

Nothing on this card was hard to do. There are just several techniques that give it the rustic look you see here.

Starting with the card base, I stamped the small water image in the upper left and lower right corners. With the distressed corners of the DSP it looks better with a bit of an image in the exposed corner.

Next the DSP layers were distressed all around the edges with the blade of a scissors. The two corners were folded a bit.

On the white focal layer the water was stamped and masked off at the waterline. A blending brush was used to create the glow of the sunset and the sun was added before the mask came off. The small water image used in the corners was then used to create the glow on the water. Use 2nd generation ink for the glow. If you haven't done that all you need to do is ink your stamp, stamp on scrap paper then stamp on your project.

Die cutting was done for the sailboat and bird. The sailboat was done in two colors and the sails were layered on the sailboat. Just snip off the parts you don't need. The sailboat is popped up on Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Glue the Secret Sea card stock to the stamped layer. It gives a nice dark edge to the focal layer. Add the bird and the Linen Thread around the bottom area. Now you can add the popped up sentiment.

Next you glue the layers together and onto the card base. For the last 2 touches I added a bow to the lower right and painted the sun and it's "glow" with our new Shimmer Brush in Golden Glow. How pretty that bit of shimmer looks!

The inside of your card needs a little love, too!  Don't forget to add a little something to your envelope, too! You never want to send a naked envelope!

There you go! A rustic version using the Scenic Coast stamps and dies. With all those techniques you end up with a stunning design! Go ahead and give it a try!
