Color Dare #133 ~ Smoothie, Honey, Flaxen, Crystal Blue, Gypsy + Black & Colonial White

Hello! Feel like a little spring today? The Color My Heart color dare for this week made me think of spring so I just went with it!

The colors are inspired by the Wonderful paper pack: Smoothie, Honey, Flaxen, Crystal Blue, Gypsy with Black and Colonial White. My 5" x 7" card was inspired by a card I saw on Dr. Phil Scraps. I love the sponged "sky" behind the flowers!

To sponge the sky I first cut a 2 1/2" square in a piece of paper to create a mask. To hold it lightly in place while I sponged, I first dabbed some glue from our Glue Pen and let it dry. Now my mask is like a sticky note! Using a sponge and Crystal Blue ink I inked the sky making it darker around where the flowers would be stamped. Gently peel off the mask and you'll see a beautiful color background!

After stamping the flowers in black ink I got out my Shin-han markers and colored the flowers. As you color you'll see areas that indicate shadow. Just color over those spots a second time to get a soft shadow effect. I also sanded the Smoothie and Black cardstock layers to soften the look a bit. When placing the flower layer on the black cs, I liked how just having the black show on two sides looked. It kind of framed the flower layer like the sponged sky created a frame effect. The left and bottom edges were scraped over the black ink pad just for a finished look to the layer. Next was adding some twine and popping that layer with 3D Foam. A few black sparkles later the card was finished!

Technique Blog Hop - Irresistible Texture

It's time for another technique hop! This month we are featuring our embossing folders. Our newest ones can be seen on page 11
of Seasonal Expressions!

If you've arrived from Wendy's blog you're on the right track! Just keep clicking the link at the end of the post to continue on the hop.

My card features the Diamond embossing folder. I love the versatility of this folder. Can't you imagine it for just about any project? I did the embossing on a piece of B&T paper from the new Hopscotch paper pack. I love the subtle pattern under the embossing.

The stamp set is called A Little Note. I colored it with a blending pen and lifting ink off the lid of the stamp pad. Some 3D Foam and piece of Flaxen Extra Thick Twine finished off the look. But wait! Bling....it needed some bling! It's hard to see in the photo, but each daffodil has a Bitty Sparkle in the center. Plus there are 3 Puffy butterflies from our new Junebug Puffies!
