Shaker Card ~ Color Dare #660

How about a new color challenge from our team at Color Dare? The week we have 3 colors for you and you must use at least 2 of them The colors are shown in the graphic along with the fine print rules. Take a look below.

When I sat down to create a project for this challenge I imagined something very different than this shaker card. Haha..it happens so I just went with it. As I was creating the card ideas were popping into my head and I worked them into the design. Thank goodness it all came together nicely. *whew

The Gallery Blooms Bundle is one of my current favorites. I used markers to color the flowers. The leaves were left uncolored because the challenge didn't allow any green for leaves.

I used the frame die from the bundle then embossed it. I love the partial texture on the frame.

Construction of the shaker element. Once I had all the pieces cut and prepped I started putting it all together.

  • The flowers were tucked both behind and in front of the frame.
  • Next I added the window sheet I trimmed to fit the back of the frame.
  • The Foam Adhesive Strips were applied around the back of the frame making sure to not have any gaps for the sequins to leak out of.
  • I stamped the sentiment on the card front using the frame piece as a guide for placement,
  • Now it's time to sprinkle the sequins on the card front.
  • Carefully peel the backing off the foam strips and place the frame onto the card front.
  • As a final touch I added some ribbon along the fold.
  • Now you have a shaker card!

Shaker Fun!

Have you seen our special called Gnomes for All Seasons - Autumn? Well you need to take a look because it's wonderful! It will be perfect for all those Fall scrapbooking and occasions. Lets take a look at the shaker card I made with these products.

Starting with paper from the collection I created a pretty background for the other elements. I love that pop of green plaid at the bottom of the card. Its our NEW color called Limeade!

The pumpkin and flower were colored with pencils to add some dimension. The shaker part is a fun surprise and I used a retired sequins to keep the look going. Don't you love it when you have the perfect items in your stash!

Slimline Shaker Card ~ Color Dare #504

Friday means it's time for a new color challenge from the Deign Team at Color My Heart Color Dare! This is a fun one, too. From the grid shown below pick at least 3 of the 4 colors to use on any paper craft. Free colors are Black, White, Neutral + gold & silver. The free colors don't count as part of the "use at least 3 colors".

We referent Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. When you're ready to join the challenge use the link in the post on our home page.

I decided to make a Slimline Shaker Card for this challenge. Using the Glacier, Sapphire and Evergreen Exclusive Inks + Gold I got busy by cutting a stencil with the Thin Cut seen below. This stencil was used to blend the 3 ink colors for a background. The Mini Blending Tools (link below) work well and create a nice smooth blend of ink.

When I was finished sponging the background I simply stamped images in black. This is an easy way to get colored images without having to spend time coloring each image by hand.

The shaker element is a sprinkle of Bitty Beads and Gold Star Confetti. To complete the Shaker we have Shaker Window Foam + Acetate. It's hard to photo because of the glare from the acetate so I angled the card a bit to minimize the glare.

I added a frame of Glitter Paper (Evergreen) and a small sentiment to finish the front.

July Stamp of the Month ~ Voice of the Sea

Welcome to our Artwork Showcase for the July Stamp of the Month ~ Voices of the Sea. This beautiful stamp set is a must have for your collection. Just looking at the set relaxes me. Now think about all the projects you can create with this set!

I decided to go with a Shaker Card for my project. Like peeking out a porthole into an underwater land, this card is so fun!

I started with our White Card and Envelopes Value Pack. There are 50 cards and envelopes keeping you will stocked! The Wood Grain Papers seemed like a perfect match to the theme to create a rustic look. This paper from the Mix-in paper pack was a good choice for the water. The cardstock used was White Daisy and Mocha. The images were stamped in Intense Black Exclusive Inks because I planned on coloring with markers and didn't want anything to bleed.

I used our TriBlend markers for coloring (Blends: Ice Grey, Citrus, Fair Skin, Pale Pink, Jade Green and Bright Pink Shades). For the shaker element I used our Bitty Beads. We have a lot of embellishments that also work for use in a shaker!

There is a piece of Thin Foam Tape under the left edge of the coral so help support that piece. The other end is glued to the front of the shaker. The dots on the port hole at black Diamond Stickles.

Floral Shaker Card ~ Color Dare #493

Friday means a new Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge! This week we have a simple challenge for you to try. How about the colors Flamingo, Nectarine and Lemonade? You must you all three colors in your project. The only other color you can use are Black, White and Brown or Grey Neutrals. No other colors are allowed.

We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join our challenge use the link in the post on our home page.

I decided to use this very pretty floral stamp set for the challenge. the image was stamped in Exclusive Inks Intense Black. I colored the flowers with our TriBlend Markers (Pale Pink Shades, Burnt Orange Blend, Citrus Blend, Ice Grey Blend, Brown Grey Blend) then added some Onyx Liquid Pearls for the centers and shimmer with a Clear Shimmer Brush.

At this point I decided to make this into a shaker card! Using the Circle Shaker Foam & Acetate and the die (seen below) to get the right sized circle for backing the shaker element all I needed to do was fill it with goodies!

The filling is a combination of Bitty Beads and some pink Loose Gems. Doesn't it create a fun look you just can't help but shake?

Extra Thin Foam Tape was used around the edges of the cardstock for support then it was applied to the card front.

In the close-up you can better see the Liquid Pearls and the shimmer on the flowers. It really adds a nice look to the design.

Birthday Shaker Card

Welcome to my blog and a  fun card I made for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge. Winter Wonderland is the theme and whatever it means to you. For me it brings back memories of childhood spent ice skating, snowman building and snowball fights.

This paper from the Wonderland Pack shows those activities and others. For my shaker card I used the portions of the paper that showed my memories and framed it within the windows.

For the shakers I used some snowflake sequins and pink loose gems. I accented the front of the card with a large snowflake and some more of the snowflake sequins.

Do you have a winter birthday in your family? This is a great way to use those Christmas type items for that occasion too!

Shaker Card ~ Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

It's time for a new Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge! We give you a sketch and you create any paper craft you like! It's that easy! You can flip, rotate and modify the sketch. we just need to be able to see the sketch in your project.

I decided to go with a shaker card for my project. I pulled out our NEW As you Grow papers which are GORGEOUS! It was hard to pick the pattern I wanted to use but I finally decided on one. THEN when I was getting ready to adhere it to my card I decided to use the opposite side of the piece! Haha! I love that we have two different side to each sheet. Sometimes it makes choosing harder but I love having that problem!

The color are also NEW. Rosemary and Shortbread are featured on my card. I also love that I had a stroke of creativity and just put the shaker element on the card front without a back so you can see the beautiful paper shine through!

Inside the shaker I used a variety of little items and added them to the list of supplies below. The heart was  created using our CTMH Shaker Window Foam + Acetate. I also cut the heart for on top using our Heart Shaker Window Thin Cuts. It makes it really easy to make a Shaker Card!

The sentiment came from a MUST HAVE stamp set! See more about it below.
