Slimline Gears & Textures for Ladies!

Happy Tuesday to you! Today I have a fun project to share with you that may be a surprise. It's a different take on what is probably considered to be a masculine style stamp set. Let's take a look!

Do you ever take the time to really study your stamp set images before stamping? Sometimes I stare at the imaged on the sheet and turn, rotate and take a long look. This helps to see the images in a different way, at least for me.  When studying the Gears and Textures stamp images I noticed the gears could become flowers. Once I saw that the other imaged stated to fill in the idea with stems, leaves and flower centers. That's how I do it to see things outside of the box. Give it a try.

Ok, gear flowers. Who would have thought? Next decision was what colors to use. I decided on the soon to be gone 2024-2026 In Colors: Shy Shamrock, Peach Pie, Petunia Pop, Summer Splash and Pretty in Pink. One more decision was to go with a slimline card because I wanted to have a little garden of gear flowers and that length gave me more room!

Here is a photo of the stamp set with labels on the images I used for my design. I hope this helps you see them in a new way! I can see even more in the images I didn't use for this card! I hope to put those ideas to use soon!

Because I'm a lefty I started on the left side of the card stock that is 8" x 3". I stamped the gears first then added "stems", "leaves" and "centers. It creates a whimsical look and adds even more versatility to your stamps!

Now, there is a coordinating die set. I chose to just use the stamps this time . You could easily use the dies for this design idea and even pop up the flowers for dimension!

The grass was created with s strip of CS and tearing one long edge. I did the same for the inside of the card, too. I debated on using gems of some kind. The longer I think about something like that the more it tells me maybe I just don't need to add anything else! With all the details in the gears I felt gems would just be too busy. So I kept it really simple and added two gems under the sentiment. This draws your from all the pretty gear flowers to the sentiment.

One more thing I added was the ribbon along the left edge. I used white and color matched it by using Stampin' Blends. So fun and easy to do.

On to the inside.....

I always like to add some decoration to the inside of the card, too. Just having a sentiment doesn't work for me. I added a few gear flowers to the inside to mimic the card front. Simple but it adds a lot don't you think?

On to the envelope......

As you can see I added two gear flowers in the corner. For the address area I fancied that up a bit, too. Using the Addressed to You set I added the oval but instead of using the flowers, trees or balloons in the set I added a couple gears to bring the theme together!

What do you think of my gear flowers? Look at your images a bit longer and maybe you'll see new ways to use them, too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Slimline Floral ~ Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #575

Welcome to a new sketch challenge from our team at Atlantic Hearts. Here is a fun slimline sketch that I know you'll love to create with. You can twist, turn, flip, flop the sketch. We just need to be able to see it in your project.

The sketch goes live on Monday and the blog opens for entries on Wednesday. Have fun!

I stayed pretty true to the sketch design. Using the Honey Bunny papers and the Decorative Shapes Thin Cuts I got busy making flowers. I tried a couple different versions and decided the plaid looked best. I love a pretty plaid!

Using the stencil I softened some of the white space. The flower centers are part of a circles Thin Cuts set that is retired. I wanted the centers smaller than the circle in the Decorative Shapes set. I kept the circle theme going by adding some Dot accents.

See below for a list of products used on this card.

Honey Bunny Card

I just love bunnies! My daughters had pet bunnies while growing up, one even being a house bunny.  So this stamp set caught my eye immediately.

Using a pattern from our How-to Guide Vol. 6 made this card super easy to create. You get sample ideas, a cutting guide and placement measurements. You can copy the ideas or use it as a starting point for your own tweaks. Either way it makes it fun and easy.

HINT: Notice how the sentiment looks streaky? I did that on purpose! I inked the stamp then dragged it across the pad before stamping on the cardstock. It's a fun way to change things up a bit once in a while.

Just Chicken In ~ March Stamp of the Month

Here's a fun slimline card for you! Once again I used our How-to Guide to get started. I tweaked this one a bit by combining patterns 33 and 34. There is SO much you can do with our guides!

What do you think of those cute plaid chicks? I love them and that polka dot one, too. Sometimes you just need to go outside of the box. Plus, it makes adding color to your design in an effortless way!

The papers are from our current Special: Gnomes for Spring. I went with these papers when I noticed I could use clouds for the sky and a more ground-like pattern for the ... well... the ground! haha.

The shapes behind the chicks were made with our new Decorative Shapes Thin Cuts. There are SO many possibilities with these shapes! YOu're going to be seeing a lot of them in my projects. You better get yours ASAP so you don't miss out!

See below for what I used to create this card.

Slimline Christmas Card ~ Atlantic Hearts Sketch #553

Here's another fun sketch from our team at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. You can flip, flop, twist or turn the sketch, whatever you like. We just need to be able to see the sketch in your project. Our blog opens for entries on Wednesday.

I love slimline cards and found this to be a fun one to create. As you can see I kept pretty close to the sketch. I did spread out my accent images across the card front instead of keeping them right around the sentiment layer.

I tore the paper at the bottom to create snow banks. I also used the blending brush and Mist ink to soften the white cardstock and give a bit of a wintery sky effect. All the images were fussy cut.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

In this close-up you get a better idea of the paper tearing, the color for the sky and I used a Gold Marker to give the edge a bit of fancy. The tag was rubbed on the Mocha pad to define the edge.

Slimline Floral Card ~ Color Dare #511

Friday means a new Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge. This week we're using a photo as Inspiration for creating with color. Use any color you see in the photo below to create any paper craft you like. Do Not use colors not seen in the photo. Black, White and Gold are Free to use with your other 2 colors.

I decided on a slimline card because I wanted to sprinkle flowers across the front. I masked off the bottom half of the cardstock (White Daisy) so I could stamp the flowers with the bottoms on the masked portion. It's like they are peeking from behind the paper. The flowers were stamped with Exclusive Inks (Grape, Sage, Nectarine, Shortbread, Pine with the sentiment in Black).  The lighter shade of grape was created with 2nd generation stamping. You ink the stamp, stamp on scrap paper THEN stamp on your project.

Color My Heart Color Dare

Here's a close-up of the sentiment area. The circle was stamped in a special way. In the photo of the stamp set below you can see a circle with the sentiment "to the happy couple". I simply turned the stamp over and used the back of the stamp to get the circle image! After stamping I fussy cut it out and inked the edges by rubbing it on the stamp pad. The circle is popped up a bit with some Thin Foam Tape. The other layers are Pine cardstock and a pretty pattern from the packet seen below.

I added a narrow strip of Gold Glitter paper and some dots of Liquid Pearls (Rose Gold) for a nice accent.

Slimline Shaker Card ~ Color Dare #504

Friday means it's time for a new color challenge from the Deign Team at Color My Heart Color Dare! This is a fun one, too. From the grid shown below pick at least 3 of the 4 colors to use on any paper craft. Free colors are Black, White, Neutral + gold & silver. The free colors don't count as part of the "use at least 3 colors".

We referent Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. When you're ready to join the challenge use the link in the post on our home page.

I decided to make a Slimline Shaker Card for this challenge. Using the Glacier, Sapphire and Evergreen Exclusive Inks + Gold I got busy by cutting a stencil with the Thin Cut seen below. This stencil was used to blend the 3 ink colors for a background. The Mini Blending Tools (link below) work well and create a nice smooth blend of ink.

When I was finished sponging the background I simply stamped images in black. This is an easy way to get colored images without having to spend time coloring each image by hand.

The shaker element is a sprinkle of Bitty Beads and Gold Star Confetti. To complete the Shaker we have Shaker Window Foam + Acetate. It's hard to photo because of the glare from the acetate so I angled the card a bit to minimize the glare.

I added a frame of Glitter Paper (Evergreen) and a small sentiment to finish the front.

Slimline Card ~ Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #471

Hello there! It's time for a new Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge! This sketch is all about the slimline card design. When using the sketch you can flip, turn, rotate, etc. We just need to be able to see the sketch in your project.

I paired the sketch with our May-June Special for National Scrapbooking Month called Hope & Kindness. The beautiful papers in this pack are amazing and worked wonderfully well for the sketch!

I started with some papers from the Coordinating Paper Pack forming the base layers of the card front. The next two layers are part of the Hope & Kindness Paper Pack + Sticker Sheet.   The floral circle is one of the sticker sheet and popped up on Thin 3D Foam Tape. To take the sticky off the back of the sticker I used a bit of powder. For the strip across the middle I used Desert Rose Glitter Paper and I splattered the circle with some Gold Shimmer Brush. Finally, I tucked some Gold Thread under circle. The Exclusive Inks I used were Harbour, Desert Rose and Sage.

On the inside of the card I used our new Irish Blessings stamp set and the new Brush Strokes stamp set.
