Color Dare #111 with a Birthday Twist

Welcome to the color dare for this week! Our colors are Sorbet, Cranberry, Lagoon, Olive and Pacifica. This is a top fold standard sized card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").  In order to get the cake is different colors I did some paper piecing. I stamped it in Olive, Cranberry, and Sorbet. Then I cut out the parts I wanted in that color. To get the Lagoon flags on top I used a masking technique. I placed a Post-It note to protect where the cake would be. I inked up the flags in Lagoon and stamped them off the top of the Post-It note. Then I pieced the cake layers onto the CS.

  1. Great paper piecing, Michelle. It's flawless! Your glitter paper trims are really clever, too. I bet this card is so pretty in person!

  4. Great job with the paper piecing, Michelle--it looks seamless! I love the background paper you chose too. I think you've just inspired me to take out this stamp set and use it for the first time.
