Black Ice Card

Happy Monday! Are you in the mood for a new technique that is an eye popper? Well you've come to the right place. This is a technique I saw on Spiltcoast Stampers and is actually pretty easy. What's difficult is taking photos of the finished cards due to the glare you get from the foil cardstock.

I did one in silver and one in gold. Honestly, my favorite is the silver because it shows off the colors a bit better. If you like a more subtle look the gold is a great choice! You don't have to color in the images if you want a more basic look. If you use solid images that's a great look, too. But having said that I really like how the colors in the flowers came out.

I cut my foil cardstock to the finished size making one end about a 1/4" longer. I used Washi Tape to tape the foil cs onto a piece of scrap paper. Next I did direct to paper with the StazOn ink pad to get some streaks for the background. Stamp your images on top of the streaks. Now you need to dry the ink with a heat tool to set the ink. Next step is to do direct to paper with an embossing pad like you did for the streaks. Sprinkle clear embossing powder and tap off the extra. Heat the embossed cardstock. Finally if you want to add color this is the time using alcohol ink markers.

Now you're finished with the technique part and ready to put your card together. I trimmed off the extra 1/4" of foil cs and ended up with a piece 3" x 5" for the foil layer. The card front is covered with black cs and I embossed a sentiment in the lower right corner.
