July Technique Hop ~ Mix It Up

Welcome to our July Technique Hop! Each month on the 15th we feature a different technique to share and this month we're showing you how to make the most of our Mix-in paper pack. Sit back, relax and prepare to be wowed!

The hop is one big circle and the blog in front of mine is Terry Metzger. Just keep clicking the link in each post to go to the next blog for more great ideas.

I made a couple of card to share for this hop. I used different papers from the Mix-in paper pack because this paper pack is incredibly versatile! Each page has a different pattern on each side in black, grey or even a pink called Ballerina. You'll find tons of ways to work these pages into your projects!

My first card was inspired by a card made by Laura Lee Ryan. I made a couple of adjustments along the way to give it my spin. The plaid paper at the top is from the Mix-in pack and makes a grand statement for the rest of the cards. The flowers and leaves were colored with markers. I did make a mask of the flower sos the leaves would look like they are behind the flowers. To make a mask stamp the image on scrap paper and cut it out. Put a dot of glue on the back and let it dry. Now it's like a post it note so you can place, stamp and lift it off!

My second card is a note card and kind of designed itself as I went along. Since the papers have two different sides I wanted to do the corner turn down technique to show off both sides at the same time.

I used the same stamp set as in the first card; Floral Delivery + Thin Cuts. Thin Cuts are dies and make it very easy to cut out the mages. This time I colored the leaves with a marker and the flowers with a water brush and reinker. Place a drop of reinker on an acrylic block to use like paint. Once the card was assembled I painted the flowers in the bouquet with a clear shimmer brush for some pretty sparkle.
