Heat It Up ~ April Technique Hop

Welcome to our monthly Technique Hop. Each month we feature a different technique to share and this month it's Heat Embossing.

Our hop is a big circle and the blog before mine is Alyson Mayo. At the end of this post you'll find a link to the next blog on the hop. So sit back and enjoy the ride! You're going to see a ton of great ideas!

When I pulled out this stamp set I knew I wanted to use the wreath for my main image. I imagined the one in color first, but once I embossed it gold I really like that look, too. I then switched gears a bit and made both cards to share with you!

This stamp set is part of our April special called These Are my People. This collection has many different options including an exclusive stamp set and pattern papers, workshop kits, digital art, etc. Click here to see the entire collection.

Ok back to my cards! The gold card on the right was easy because it's just white and gold. It has a very elegant look with the shine of the gold foil paper as well as the white & gold ribbon to accent the gold embossing.l

The Lilac card on the left was what I first imagined. It's basically the same as the gold card except for the pattern paper and a touch of color on the flowers in the wreath. To color the flowers all I had to do was make a tiny line with the marker in each flower petal. The tip of the marker fit perfectly so it was easier than it might look. The size of the cardstock for the wreath is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" to give you some perspective.

For the bows I made a double loop of ribbon and tied it with a separate piece of ribbon. A Glue Dot was used to place it on the card.
