Palm Paradise Card ~ Color Dare #396

How about a new color challenge? You've come to the right place because the Design Team at Color My Heart Color Dare has some really nice colors for you to create with in this challenge.

You pick at least 3 of the colors in the grid below to create any paper craft you like. We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a VERY close match. Do not add any brand new colors to the grid. If you are entering your artwork into more than one challenge please make sure your artwork fits the rules of all challenges entered. Link your entry to the post on our home page to enter the challenge.

I had fun making this card and especially coloring the bird. It was inspired by Trina Wirihana although I did make some adjustments. I used our TriBlend Markers to color the bird and it made the blending very easy. You get a light, medium and dark shade of the color in each marker taking all the guesswork out of blending.

Getting the circle cut into the card front was probably the most challenging part of the entire card. *L. I could have made it much easier than I did but that's just not the way I role. I used our Thin Cut dies for the cut circles and also the circle ring around the opening. First I cut the hole on the card front itself. Next I kind of lined up the Peacock layer and the die so it would line up with the card front. I did make the layer a bit larger so I could trim any excess after I cut the opening. I did the same for the white layer. Now to make it easier I could have cut the opening in the card front. Next I could have layered the white layer (already stamped) and the Peacock layer THEN cut the opening.

The palm leaves were random stamped using Mint and Peacock inks. The Peacock ink is a strong color and I wanted it to be softer so I stamped as 3rd and 4th generation. This means I inked the stamp then stamped on scrap paper 2 times before stamping on the cards top the 3rd and 4th time.

The bling started out clear but I used a marker to color the bling to match the theme. I just kind of swirled it around the top of the gem. Don't worry about getting the color all the way down the sides

The close-up of the birth shows the shading and some sparkle. The sparkle comes for a Clear Shimmer Brush and add a nice touch.
