Autumn Pumpkins

Happy Monday to you all! I was in a creative mood today and got busy with a card idea floating around in my head. I love it when it comes together!

I'm sharing this card with several challenges:

Double Trouble ( Tall & Skinny card plus a tail), Color My Heart Color Dare (color challenge #414), Crafter's Cafe (Anything Goes), Crafting Happiness (Anything Goes), 2 Crafty Critter Crazies ( has to have a critter) and Heart 2 Heart (something new to you). Wow, that covers a lot of ground!

I knew I wanted to do some Mixed Media using Distress Oxide Inks. These inks are new to me and I'm having fun learning how many ways to use them!  I used the Smoosh technique with the Distress Oxide Inks. On an all purpose mat I patted (smooshed) the ink pads directly to the mat. Then I spritzed with some water. Using water color paper I laid it on the mat picking up the inks. I kept going until I had the colors I wanted on the watercolor paper. You can also spritz the inks with water but I chose not to this time.

The next step was to stamp the pumpkins placing the stamp to make the most of the colors. I love how they turned out! Then it was time to use Thin Cut Dies to make it an easy task to cut the images and shapes out.

Now it was time to put the card together! I love how the hexagon shape frames the tree scene. The smaller hexagons keep that theme going while the pumpkins just look awesome! I used a touch of shimmer brush on the pumpkins in the "highlight" spot to add a bit of sparkle. The pumpkins and middle small hexagon are popped up with some thin foam tape for dimension.

It's hard to see but there is some shimmer on the pumpkins. I also used a marker to add the green to the stems.

I had an extra pumpkin so used that  and some stamped leaves to dress up the inside a bit.
