Stencil Card ~ Color Dare #420

This week the Design Team at Color My Heart Color Dare is challenging you with a monochromatic color theme. We're using shades of orange but our Free colors are Black, White, all neutrals and metallics. Orange should be the stand out color of your project. Don't add any extra colors though!

You can make any paper craft you like! When you're ready use the link on our home page to join the challenge.

Orange is not a typical color for me to work with except for Fall type themes. That seemed too obvious so I did a theme other than Fall for my card. I decided it was time to put one of my new stencils to work and pulled out my orange stamp pads and got busy!

I love this pattern and did a two tone color with it. Nectarine is in the flower center with Paprika on the outer petals. It's a subtle shift in color and very soft looking. I inked the edges in black ink just to give definite edge to that layer without using cardstock. Finally, I used my Peach Shimmer Brush to spatter a light mist all over the flowers.

For the candle layer I stamped in black, colored the flame with a water brush and Nectarine ink. As a final touch I added Peach Shimmer to the flame for some sparkle. This was layered on a piece of cardstock cut with a Thin Cut die and trimmed off on the left edge of the card. Some black dots and the front was done.

  3. Beautiful card, great stenciled background. I actually found "Orange in Shades" as a difficult color challenge, and everyone else really came through.

  6. Wow! At first glance it looks wonderful. Reading your explanation it is now fabulous!! I agree your petals are soft and your color is seamless. The sparkle shimmer on the flames is perfect. Your embellishments are so well done too. What I love the most are the candles. I would love to see a card with them colored. So cute teamie!!
