Thank You Card ~ Color Dare #454

Friday means it's time for a new Color Dare Challenge! Each Friday we go live with a new challenge that lasts 2 weeks. There is always something fun going on at Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge!

The way our challenges work is that you use the color parameters we give you to make any project you like. Most of us make paper crafts but once in a while you'll see something like a home decor piece.

For this challenge we are giving you an Inspirational Photo with which to pick your colors from. We give you some free colors to work with as well. What you can't do is add colors that aren't in the photo. If you can't see it in the photo you can't use it. Simple, right!

My card turned out so pretty with colors the lavender, blue and green colors from the photo. I started by stamping a random background with a flower image from the stamp set to create a background. I did the same thing for the blue layer but used 2nd generation ink to keep it subtle.

I stamped the main image in Intense Black ink so it would not bleed what I colored it.

I forgot to mention I started with a pattern from one of our wonderful How-to Books called Make It from Your Heart, Volume 5. The pattern is #21. Our How-to Books are a fantastic way to start your project. There is a cutting guide, placement guide and samples to help you along the way. Sometimes I use it exactly as is and sometimes I start with it and make adjustments along the way. However you use it is fine and a great way to create your projects!

This photo shows how I did the color for the flowers. I started with a blue tone for the shadow areas of the flowers. The next step was to add a layer of medium lavender to accent the larger shadow areas. Finally,  I added a light lavender over the entire flower blending the colors together. I did the same with two shades of green for the leaves.

This photo shows the shimmer I added to the flowers with a Clear Shimmer Brush. It adds such a pretty look to the flowers. I also added a layer of shimmer over the sentiment to highlight it.
