Butterfly Card ~ Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #681

Good Monday Morning!  Today I'm sharing a sketch from our Team at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Every Monday we go live with a new sketch and our blog opens for entries on Wednesday. I'm on Team B and we do the odd numbered sketches.

When using our sketch you can do whatever you like with it! Twist, turn rotate, change shapes, etc. We just need to be able to see the sketch in your design. Most of all have fun!

I did a bit of altering to the sketch for my card. I changed shapes and added a couple of layers, but the overall look is on target for the sketch.

The pretty paper is from our new Everyday Essentials pack. This is a very versatile pack of designs! I love this color and pattern combo the most from the pack do that's why I chose it for my card.

Using the pink and yellow flowers as inspiration, I stamped and punched out the butterflies. The scalloped circles are dies and come in many sizes for all sorts of layering! The white circle is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals to create a bit of depth in the design. Finally, the pretty little pink flowers were added. I love the way they accent thee sentiment an during in the flower theme to that layer.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge
Add your project starting on Wednesday.

There you go with my take on the sketch. It's really nice when y9u have a sketch to get you started! Have fun and we can't wait to see how you use our sketch in your creation!

Flowering Meadow Card ~ Color Dare #703

Welcome to our newest Color Dare Challenge! Each Friday we give you a new combo of colors to create any paper project you like. For this challenge you must use at least of the colors shown in our graphic. We do offer some FREE colors to use with the graphic colors if you like, BUT do not add any extra colors beyond that. So if you are entering multiple challenges be careful of your colors. Sometimes they sneak in on pattern papers or in other ways!

For my card I went with a color block style of design and used all four of the colors in the graphic. The background layer is from our Two Tone card stock and it's the light side of Pretty Peacock. The other colors I used are Gorgeous Grape, Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo.

I added a strip of Vellum behind the flowers to give some dimension and separate the flower layers from the background. I placed the glue under the spots where the flower layers would be so it wouldn't show through the Vellum.

The flowers are popped up on Dimensionals and painted with Wink of Stella for a pretty sparkle. It's also very difficult to photo the sparkle!

The Three Banner Punch was used to make the sentiment banner quick and easy! After adding some Gold Flower Accents I called it finished!

This was a very easy card to make mostly because of the coordinating dies that made it quick and easy to cut out the flower parts. There are many more lovely images in this bundle so be sure to check it out!

Now it's your turn to create and share using our color challenge. We love seeing how our colors inspire you and can't wait to see what you create! Have fun!

Watercolor Leftovers Part 2 ~ Color Dare #702

Here's another idea for using the leftover Watercolor pieces. Last Friday when our Color Dare Challenge went live, I shared a project that used the leftover inks for watercoloring. I showed how to soak up the ink puddles with watercolor paper. Here is another project using the leftover watercolor paper! Click here to see last Friday's project.

After soaking up the ink puddles and letting the ink dry, I used it to die cut these pretty flowers. The Simply Beautiful Bundle was used for this card and creates ..... well.... simply beautiful images!

The card base is Soft Sea Foam with a strip of DSP in Cloud Cover at the bottom. I added strips of Blackberry Bliss CS to the top and bottom to balance the darker color with the two lighter ones

The flowers are die cut and layered on Cloud Cover for a base. The flower centers are also die cut but from a Specialty Paper called Lunar Lustre. When paired with Cloud Cover it looks like a shimmery Cloud cover! I added a Rhinestone to the flower just for a bit of sparkle.

The card base was brushed with a Blending Brush and Soft Sea Foam ink to soften the base area where the sentiment goes.

The sentiment is popped up and I used another Blending Brush to ink the edges. The stamping was done using the Stamp Positioner to make sure it was just right before die cutting.

What's Up Wednesday ~All Aflutter Card

Welcome to What's Up Wednesday!  Today I'm sharing one of our NEW Bundles and how to keep it simple but also impressive! Yes, you can do those two things at the same time!

I started with an embossed piece of white cardstock. It's cut to 4" x 5-1/2" so it's the same height was the card base but 1/4" narrower. The Embossing Folder is called Paradise Garden and creates a lovely vine look for your background.

Before going this piece to the card front, wrap a ribbon around it close to the bottom. I put some adhesive on each side of the back where the ribbon will wrap. Then I hope the ribbon on the front, fold the end over to the back on one side and stick it in place. Still holding the ribbon in place, I wrap the other end and stick it in place.

I tied a bow and adjusted it until I had the size I wanted. Using a couple Glue Dots I placed it on the wrapped ribbon. Much easier than trying to tie it all in one step and you get the same look!

The butterflies are way to do! They are in a group of three and have 3 different images to use. I  layered two images here. I stamped the butterflies using our NEW HYBRID BLACK ink pad! This ink is for ALL purposes wet or dry! Just let it dry for about 10 min. after stamping if you're doing a wet process like watercoloring, markers, etc. By the way, the butterflies are stamped in two of our NEW In Colors: Barely Blush and Hydrangea Hue!

After your butterflies are stamped use the coordinating punch to stamp them out all at the same time! For my two different colors I stamped the trio twice, added the colors, punched and kept the ones I didn't use for future projects.

The larger butterfly is popped up on Mini Dimensionals to add a bit of depth to the design. The others are glued directly to the card front. When adhering to an embossed layer I prefer to use glue so it gets into all the little grooves and holds the piece securely.

For a bit of sparkle I added some of our Rhinestones. The add the sparkle without overshadowing the pretty butterflies.

For the inside of the card I used one of the extra punched butterflies and added some of the other images in the set. Don't forget to decorate the inside of your card.....and envelope, too!

I hope you enjoyed this simple look. I can't wait to share it with someone and brighten their day!

Watercolor Leftovers ~ Color Dare #702

Welcome! Today I'm sharing an idea using the leftovers from a watercolor attempt. I say attempt because the flowers didn't turn out well with this color combo. I still had the leftovers and decided they would work great for this idea.

This was made for the Color Dare Challenge #702. Using at least 2 of the colors in the graphic, create any paper craft you like. Free colors can be used with the challenge colors but do not add any extra colors beyond that. When you're ready to join our challenge use the direct link below the graphic.

Here is the finished card. Colors are Blackberry Bliss, Soft Sea Foam and Cloud Cover. The colors are for a Color Dare Challenge that went live last Friday, May 1st. This design was inspired by Patti Dolan and I couldn't wait to give it a try!

Direct Link to Color Dare #702

Using the Scalloped Wishes Bundle.....I LOVE this bundle.....I die cut the elements for the oval . I decided to use a piece of DSP from the Nature Walk pack and I splattered Blackberry Bliss ink over that layer.

The flowers and leaves were die cut from leftover water colors and a piece of watercolor paper. When you watercolor with reinkers you get these wonderful puddles of ink left over. DON'T just wipe it up after you're done painting! Mix it up a bit then take your watercolor paper and blot it up. Turn the paper around and get all the pretty goodness onto that paper! Use the Glass Mat or Silicone Craft Sheet for your watercolor projects. They wipe clean after you're all finished.

Here are my puddles of ink mixed together a bit with a piece of watercolor paper ready to go. When painting you drop your ink with space between them. Once done painting move that ink around so it's diluted, close together and even mixing in some places. Lay the watercolor on top and press, smooth and soak up the ink. Soak up as much as your paper will hold.

NOTE: Our regular size Cloud Cover ink pad is not yet ready for purchase. In the meantime all you have to do is get the Uninked Stampin' Spots and the Cloud Cover Reinker. Viola! You now have a Cloud Cover ink pad.

This is what my piece of watercolor paper looked like after die cutting. You can see that I picked out the places I wanted to use for my leaves and flowers. I still have more space I can use on other projects!

Here is a look at the inside of my card. It's always fun to decorate the inside, too! Don't forget the envelope as well.

I hope you use this tip when you watercolor. Using the leftovers makes our supplies even more versatile and cost efficient!

Have fun and we can't wait to see what you create with our colors!

Boutique Blossom ~ Color Dare #702

You know what Friday means!  It's time for a new color combo from Color Dare Challenge! This week we have a three color combo and you must use at least TWO of the colors shown. There are Free colors you can add but do not add any extra colors beyond that. See the graphic below for more info. When you're ready to join our challenge use the direct ink below the graphic.

Make any paper craft you like. Most of all.....have fun! We can't wait to see how you use our colors!

For my card I used all three colors: Blackberry Bliss, Cloud Cover and Soft Sea Foam. I also used some NEW products that will be available on May 5th....Tuesday!  Let's take a look!

If you know me you know I LOVE the Everyday Arches dies. Here I chose one that created a large enough space to include the flowers and a good sized sentiment.

The arch is a piece of DSP from the NEW Velvet Meadow pack. Some of the designs even have a flocked element! After die cutting the arch I snipped the corners from the left over piece and added them. It gives a nice finish to that layer and stops your eyes from roaming off the card.

The images are gold heat embossed for the outline and stamped for the inside. This set is also NEW: Boutique Blossom Bundle. The inside image has differing textures that automatically give you the light and dark tones. The large flower is popped up for dimension and depth.

Here is how I stamped the inside of the card. It's always nice to add some images with the wording. Don't forget the envelope! That likes some love, too!

Now it's your turn to create and share! How will you use our colors?

Coming Tuesday, May 5th is a collection of NEW Online Exclusive products!

Let's take a look at the Silly Old Bear Suite.

I know we tend to associate this collection of characters with children, BUT take a closer look!

I'm sure you can see many child centered things to do with this products in the suite. But let's take a look at the sentiments.

Ok now look at this set of dies! The possibilities are endless. All the different shapes will create beautiful layers on your projects. Nest them together to create even more lovely looks!

Extraordinary Flora Card ~ Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 679

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #679! Every Monday we give you a new sketch to get you started. I'm on Team A and we do the ODD numbered sketches.

When you use our sketch you can do whatever you want with it. Turn, flip, flop, alter the shapes, etc. Whatever strikes your fancy. We just need to be able to see the sketch in your design, so have fun!

For my card I did change the card size from square to an A2 size (4-1/4" x 5-1/2"). Another change I made is to make the banner detail out of flowers instead of pennants. But even with these changes the sketch is still obvious in my design.

The flowers were die cut from the Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape and the coordinating die. I picked my colors from those I saw in the Washi flowers.

I placed the flowers in a curve and popped up the largest one in the center so I could tuck other pieces underneath. This gives a nice dimension to the design. I also tucked a flower at the bottom to replace the little banner in the sketch.

Did you notice the envelope? Since I had so many flowers die cut I used some to decorate the envelope, too. Glue down the flowers well on the envelope so they don't catch on other pieces of mail.

This is the inside of the card. I had this pieces of white CS on my desk and felt it would be a good size for the inside. It left me a nice space on the right to add some more flowers! Don't forget to decorate the inside, too!

Now it's your turn to create and share using our sketch! Do you have an idea already forming? Our sketch goes live on Monday and our Blog opens for entries on Wednesday.

Have fun creating!

Flowers Fair Card ~ Color Dare #701

It's time for another color challenge from our team at Color Dare. Every Friday we give you a new palette of color to get you started on a project. For this challenge you must use at least TWO of the colors shown in our graphic. There are Free colors we let you use with the challenge colors. DO NOT add any colors beyond what is in our graphic.

Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join our challenge use the direct link below our graphic. Most of all, have fun!

My design ended up using all 3 colors plus Black and White. I love how bright it turned out!

Starting with the Product of the Month for April: Eyelet Blooms I created some pretty layers. The die cut layer for the flowers is actually a little peek at a new item coming in May! It's the Sweet Words & Labels Dies and I love all the different looks we'll be able to create with these dies!

HINT: to remove all the little pieces of card stock our Take Your Pick Tool with the Brush Tip work really well! Just run it back and forth on the back and the pieces will come out of the die! No poking involved. Also, the flat tip works great for placing gems.

The flowers are stamped in our NEW HYBRID Basic Black ink. Yes....another peek at a product coming May 5th! The Hybrid pad is going to give us versatility with being able to color with markers and watercolors! Just stamp, wait a bit for it to dry then color away!

I love this technique of coloring the flowers then adding color to the background. The colors for this challenge lended itself perfectly to this technique! The blue looks like sky surrounding the flowers. By the way, this is only a very small part of the image. The stamp is full size but you don't always need to use it all.

Once colored in I die cut and popped it up on dimensionals. I love how the red shows through the eyelet die cut!

How will you use our challenge colors? We can't wait to find out!
