Simple Happy Birthday ~ Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 695

Hello and welcome to a new sketch challenge from our team at Atlantic Hearts. Each Monday we give you a new sketch to inspire your creativity. You can adjust the sketch as you like by changing format, shapes, positions, etc. We just need to be able to see the sketch in your design.

I did change the sentiment shape in my design and added a ribbon. I also placed the gems in different places but you can still recognize the original sketch!

To make this quick and easy I let the DSP (Designer Series Paper) do the heavy lifting. I cut the middle panel on the floral side. All I now had to do was flip over the DSP and use the back for the 2 outside panels.

I used a punch on white and Hydrangea Hue CS for the sentiment. Since it's the same size I cut the Hydrangea Hue in half and glued the outer edges to show on the ends. This punch will be available in September. any punch like this could be used this way.

A ribbon was woven behind the sentiment which is popped up on Dimensionals. One final touch was to add the gems. Like I said, quick and easy!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Now it's your turn to give our sketch a try. Our sketch goes live on Monday and our blog is open for entries on Wednesday. Have fun and show us your creativity!

Snowflake Card ~ Color Dare #674

It's time for a new Color Dare Challenge from our Design Team! This challenge is to use all 3 of the colors shown in the graphic. Make sure your colors are a close match to those shown. We also give you some Free colors to use along with the 3. See the graphic for the fine details.

As soon as I got ready to create with these colors I thought of snowflakes. Plus, I love Christmas cards in non-traditional colors.

After die cutting the white cardstock I got busy covering it with pretty snowflakes. I love how the snowflakes have multiple parts so you can stamp in different colors.

Once stamped I wrapped some ribbon around one end of the layer. This ribbon is part of our Last Chance Sale and can sell out at any time. If you'd like to have it in your stash go see if it's still available! Then this layer was popped up with foam.

The sentiment layer is stamped on a 1/2" piece of cardstock then the ends were punch with the Happy Labels punch to give it a fun look. Finally, a couple of Rhinestones were added for sparkle and fun!

Ok.....how are YOU going to use our colors? We can't wait to see! Have fun.

Modern Style Christmas Card

Hello! Have you started to work on your Christmas cards yet? I'm getting started and have this "out of my comfort zone" modern style card. Let me say that stepping out of the comfort zone is a good thing to do once in a while. I think this card turned out really pretty and I do like the cleanness of the design.

Going bold and using a black card base I layered the striped DSP for my background. Because the stripes are so bold I kept the focal layers simple. The trees were die cut from the DSP using a die along with the black mat. The sentiment layer was also die cut and tucked under the focal layer. Both are popped up with Stmapin' Dimensional foam. A couple of embellishments add to the look and add some pop of color, too.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed my venture outside my comfort zone. haha.

Joyful Days Card ~ Team Challenge

Hello! I have a really easy Christmas Card to share with you today that is part of a Team Challenge. The challenge is to share an idea for a Christmas Card. Easy enough, right? Well this card was SO easy to make because I used a new product called Joyful Days Memories & More Card Pack.

The pack comes with a total of 54 card fronts in two sizes: 4" x 6" and 3" x 4".  The designs are so pretty and some even have sentiments on them!

I selected the small card with a pine wreath and empty center. Using the Winter Scenes stamp set I picked out the smallest scene to fit inside the wreath. I added some colors with markers for the trees and door. The house was colored using ink off a block and a Water Painter (back in stock....yea!). At the end I used Wink of Stella for the snow. It's hard to see but I hope the second photo shows it off a bit. This pieces is layered on Gold Foil for a bit of glitz.

The sentiment was one of the other cards that I trimmed down, saving the pieces for another project because they are so nice. Using our Gold Striped Ribbon I wove a piece for behind the sentiment then glued it down. A sprinkle of gold dots around the card filled in the red space a bit and added a nice touch.

Encircled Wreath Card ~ Color Dare #623

Friday means it's time for a new color challenge from our team at Color Dare. This time we're giving you an inspirational photo from which to pick your colors. Use at least 3 colors seen in the photo below. See the graphic for the fine print rules.

Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join our challenge click here.

My card is another Christmas Card adding to my collection of designs for this year. I kept it simple with layering the wreath on a couple layers of color. To add more interest I embossed the background and added a ribbon and some sparkles.

Modern Look Card ~ Color Dare #577

It's Friday! Are you ready for a new color challenge from our Design Team at Color My Heart Color Dare? This one is fun and easy for the colors. You must use Shadow of Pink, Purple and Blue. You MUST use all three colors in your project. See the graphic for the fine print rules. Do not add any new colors besides those 3 and what it says in the fine print.

Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join our challenge click here to go directly to #577.

I'm having so much fun with this Triangle Trees stamp set and felt it would be perfect for this challenge. I wanted a modern look with our 3 colors and the style of the trees fit the design just right.

Once I decided embossing would look best on the cardstock colors I got busy. I love the new color Royal and wanted to highlight that color. I love the look of the trees on the Royal cardstock covered in Vellum.

I used a retired Thin Cut die to cut the Vellum. It kind of looks like a snowfall, doesn't it. I wanted to soften the background from the trees and Vellum was a great choice. To finish the card I added some bling, because well....bling on a Christmas card is just the way to go!

Silver Bells Cards

Are you still making your Christmas Cards? Here are a couple of my favorite ones I made this year. The both use images from the Silver Bells Stamps + Thin Cuts. The slimline uses paper from Silver Bells and the one on the right has paper from Evergreen.

Both are colored with our new Colour Pencils and it creates such a soft look to the card. You don't have to color the entire image either. Leave some of it uncolored and it creates a beautiful balance. So if you're still working on your cards, partially coloring the images could save some time and still create a beautiful look.

Stepping It Up the Simple Way!

Hello! Today I'm showing you two cards that use the same basic design but have totally different feels. Both are very pretty but the second one I "stepped up" with a couple easy details. Which one do you like best?

Both cards use the Silver Bells paper and Stickers. No stamping this time! Using my Thin Cut Circle Dies I cut 3 circles in various sizes (2 1/2", 2" and 1 1/2"). These sizes nest together very well and fit nicely on a card front.

X7298S Silver Bells Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet

The first card is done in the warmer tones of this paper pack. Gold Glitter paper frames the outside of the card. The sentiment has gold, too. The gems are from the Silver Bells Dots.

The second card uses the cool tones of the papers. I love it when you can go either way with the colors! I used the same paper patterns but in a different order this time. I also rimmed the edge of the circles with a Gold Paint Marker. What a difference that makes! One little step and WOW! I brought in more gold tones with Glitter paper and gems. The background is Charcoal cardstock using both the light and dark sides.

The sentiments and holly leaves are from the sticker sheet.

When using Glitter Papers it's hard to get things to stick to it. I like to use Thin Foam Tape because it's fast, easy and adds a new dimension to the overall look. If you don't want that popped up look you can use liquid adhesive. Just remember to give it drying time.

Christmas Card ~ Color Dare #572

Feeling in the mood for some Christmas?  Well the colors in this challenge are taken from our New Home for Christmas Paper Pack.  Of course you can make other themes than Christmas with these colors, but I wanted to get a start on my cards!

For this  challenge you must use at least 3 colors from the grid. You can use more but don't add any colors not on the grid. See the graphic for the fine print rules and free colors.

We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count.  Make any paper coat you like. When you're ready click her for a direct link to Color Dare #572.

This card was inspired by Jacque Paech. I started with the top row of colors + Jade.  It's a simple card but looks so pretty. It only uses a 4" x 6" piece of pattern paper! That's the fun part of our CTMH papers with patterns on both sides!

The stamp set has so many options you can't go wrong with adding to your stash! Think beyond Christmas and you'll see all kinds of images and sentiments you can use anytime!

November Stamp of the Month ~ Christmas Snowflake Mandalas

It's time for a new Stamp of the Month and this one is a beauty! If you like mandalas and if you like snowflakes you'll LOVE this stamp set! It's the perfect blend of both. I'm also sharing this post in the Artwork Showcase on Facebook. Click this link to go to the album with more ideas for using this stamp set.

Click here to go to the Artwork showcase Album for the November Stamp of the Month 2022. While you're there be sure to check out the other albums for a variety of themes!

I love making Christmas cards in non-traditional colors and that's what I did here. I started with a card base from our very handy White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack. We all need to have a stash of cards and envelopes on hand!

Embossing just seems to pair well with snowflakes. I embossed with White Powder on Harbour Cardstock.  Other items you need for embossing are a VersaMark Pad and a Heat Tool

Embossing is easy and creates a dramatic look. Stamp your image with the VersaMark pad just as you'd do with a regular ink pad. Next you sprinkle the embossing powder all over the design. HINT: be sure to have a scrap piece of paper under to catch the excess powder so you can put it back in the jar. If you have some spots of powder clinging to the cardstock where it shouldn't, turn it over and tap on the back of the cardstock. If there is still some powder where you don't want it some puffs of breath will usually do the trick. Finally, you can use a dry paint brush to gently remove the powder where you don't want it. Now you use the heat tool to finish. The heat tool is hotter than a hair blow dryer (so don't use that instead) and melts the embossing powder onto the cardstock. You can see it change during the process from a sandy look to a shiny look.

After the embossing was done I splattered with Clear Shimmer Brush to give it some subtle sparkle in the background. You can see it in the photo but it doesn't do the sparkle justice.

The final touch was a dot of Stickles Glitter Glue in Diamond in the center of each snowflake.

The sentiment on the inside of the card was stamped in Harbour Exclusive Inks. The snowflakes are stamped in both 1st and 2nd generation ink.
