New Product Blog Hop--Feb. 2013

Welcome to our New Product Blog Hop featuring products from our new Spring/Summer 2013 Idea Book! You are going to LOVE all the great ideas you see as you hop along with over 30 Close To My Heart Consultants! If you've come from Nikka Geers' blog you're on the right track. It's a great big loop so keep on hopping!

I needed to make a birthday card for for a granddaughter turning 3. I wanted it to be colorful and fun with images she could recognize as birthday.
The front of the card is fun and suitable for even adults. The border along the left side of the card is a piece of the zip border along the top of the B&T paper. On the inside I used our Cricut Artiste cartridge to cut a cupcake. The candles and flames were hand cut. I added a bit of sparkle with Glitz Glitter Gel and then made a Pop-up element so the cupcake would pop up a bit when the card is opened. To do this I cut a 1"x 41/4" piece of cardstock. I scored it at 1", 2", 3" and 4" leaving a 1/4" tab. Make a square and use the tab to glue it together. I glued this to the back of the cupcake to make it pop up! You can make these pop up pieces any size you need for your images.  HINT: the Glitter Gel wasn't quite dry enough when I needed the card to be envelope ready. I took my Heat Tool and gently dried it the rest of the way!
Here are the supplies I used for the birthday card:
X7163B Chantilly paper kit     B1419 Joyful Birthday     B1417 Perfect Fit-Birthday
Z1790 Cricut Artiste cartridge     Z2140 Outdoor Denim cardstock     Z2193 Cotton Candy Ink     Z2197 Pear Ink     Z2140 Outdoor Denim Ink
Z1769 Almond Glitz Glitter Gel     Z1770 Pink Glitz Glitter Gel     Z1151 3-D Foam Tape
Z1311 1/14" Circle Punch   X254 White Cards & Envelopes  Z1690 Bitty Buds (retired)

This is a fun card I made with a more masculine feel in mind. It uses new paper and two of our new stamp sets. The lens of the glasses look slightly darker because I used Liquid Glass for the lenses. It adds a nice touch and makes it look more real. The banner layers were cut using our Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge making it very easy to get the layers just right! I LOVE the new Distressed Backgrounds stamp set! The image I used reminds me of a tulle kind of texture.

Here are the supplies I used for the card above:
X7164B Buzz and Bumble paper kit    C1535 Puns of Praise
D1544 Distressed Backgrounds  X5933 Pigment Ink--Cocoa     Z2191 Sunset Ink
Z1686 Cricut Art Philosophy   Z1410 Cards & Envelopes     Z1705 Square Studs
Z679 Liquid Glass

Thanks for hopping by! I hope you enjoy all the other great ideas you see! Now it's time to hop over to Gina Brandstetter's blog to be inspired by her work.

  2. I really like both cards. On the first one, I love that you made it a pop-up and the glitz is a perfect touch. But I think I love the second one the best. Something about the simple, clean, masculine look appeals to me.
