I decided to do a layout in prep for a granddaughter's birthday at the end of this month. I chose to use colors from the Happiness Lives Here paper pack. You can see a bit of it peeking from under the photo mats.
To make my stripe border I started by using a stencil to create the solid lines in blue. Using a Mini Blending Tool I rubbed the ink on the stencil starting in the lower left corner. I repositioned the stencil to extend the lines out along the top and bottom of the layout. I left the right end of the stripes uneven on purpose for an organic look. After stenciling I used stamp images between the blue lines. I love how this turned out!
After that I used a shimmer brush to splatter the layout going a bit lighter on the side with the stripes. After placing the photo mats, "Happy" sentiment and balloons, I stamped a few of the smaller images from the stamp set.
The bow was made with one of our die cuts. We have a small bow (used here) and a large bow die. I love the two tone look of the cardstock with the glitter paper. the final step was to add some glitter gems.
