Striped Borders ~ Technique blog Hop

Welcome to our first Technique Hop of 2021! This month we're featuring Stripe Borders. We have a variety of ways to make them including stamp sets, stencils and papers! Sit back and enjoy the hop and all the ideas you'll see along the way!

The blog before mind belongs to Wendy Kessler. Click the links in each post to continue along on the hop. It's just that easy!

I decided to do a layout in prep for a granddaughter's birthday at the end of this month. I chose to use colors from the Happiness Lives Here paper pack. You can see a bit of it peeking from under the photo mats.

To make my stripe border I started by using a stencil to create the solid lines in blue. Using a Mini Blending Tool I rubbed the ink on the stencil starting in the lower left corner. I repositioned the stencil to extend the lines out along the top and bottom of the layout. I left the right end of the stripes uneven on purpose for an organic look. After stenciling I used stamp images between the blue lines. I love how this turned out!

After that I used a shimmer brush to splatter the layout going a bit lighter on the side with the stripes. After placing the photo mats, "Happy" sentiment and balloons, I stamped a few of the smaller images from the stamp set.

The bow was made with one of our die cuts. We have a small bow (used here) and a large bow die. I love the two tone look of the cardstock with the glitter paper. the final step was to add some glitter gems.
