Welcome to our monthly Technique Hop! We're a group of Close To My Heart Makers that feature a technique the 15th of each month. This month the technique is FAUX. That can mean a lot of things! I know you're going to see a wide variety of great ideas for this hop so sit back and enjoy the ride!
The blog before mine belongs to Wendy Kessler. Click the link in each post to keep going on the hop!
For this hop I decided to do FAUX wood! We have a really beautiful paper pack called Wood Grain. There are wood patterns in shades of brown or grey and they are all beautiful! I knew this would be the perfect paper for these photos! I also created some faux wood tiles using our new Letter Tiles stamp set.
Using a pattern from one of our How-to Books made it quick and easy to create the layout. I did a fun title using a new stamp set that makes wood tiles like in the game Scrabble. The holographic paper used for the horse shoes adds a fun touch of metal and ties in with the colors in the photos. As a last touch I used some Onyx Pearls to make some "nails" in the planks of wood in the paper.
- Cardstock: Black, Espresso, Toffee, French Vanilla, Fern
- Exclusive Inks: Toffee, Black
- Pattern Papers: Mix-in X9021, Bloom with Grace
- Specialty Paper: Sunbeam Holographic
- Onyx Pearl
- Cricut: for the horse shoes, horse
- How-to Book: Make It from Your Heart, Vol. 3 Pattern 10
Great Layout, love the wood grain paper, Scrabble tiles, and the faux nail heads. Clever!
