Layered Frame Floral Card ~ Color Dare #498

Welcome to our newest Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge! Each Friday we host a new challenge based on selected colors for you to use. Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join the challenge use the link in the post on our home page.

Don't add any extra colors to the challenge. Please keep this in mind if you're sharing with other challenges.

I saw this technique online and couldn't wait to give it a try. I love the CAS (Clean & Simple) look of this card. THEN you notice the layers and dimension of the inner layer being popped up a bit.

I stamped the image in Intense Black Exclusive Inks because I was going to use markers and didn't want the ink to bleed. This was done on a piece of White Daisy Cardstock that would be layered on the card front. The marker ink will bleed through the cardstock so layering is important so you don't see the bleed on the inside of your card.  I also stamped the same image on scrap cardstock. You only need to color the outside parts of the image that is on the larger piece. Color the entire image on the scrap piece.

Our TriBlend Markers are the BEST! You get 3 shades of the color in the barrel making it easy to shade and blend the colors. I used Ice Blue Blend, Lt. Green Blend, Lavender Blend and Alpine Green Blend. I started with the lightest color then added depth with the the medium of dark shades. Finally, I went over it again with the lightest shade which blends the colors together beautifully. You only have to color the

Using our Stitched Square Thin Cut dies (link below) I cut out the center of the image on the scrap piece. Now you have two pieces: a square and the frame. Line it up on the larger piece and fill in any spots that need to be colored. Glue down the frame and pop up the square with Thin Foam Tape

Add your sentiment and any embellishments you like. I used Stickles Silver accents for the flower and around the card front.

I used the center square which is only 2". The largest is 4 1/2". These squares nest together so well and make great looks alone or together!
