Floral Notes Card ~ Color Dare #565

Can you believe it's a full week into September already? Time sure flies! September also means we have a new bi-monthly catalog AND a new Essentials catalog. Both catalogs are full of fun and exciting new products so be sure to check them out!

This Color Dare Challenge is all about saying good-bye to the retired Color of the Year: Melon. It served us well and deserves one last hurrah. For this challenge you must use Melon as you focal color. Then you add 2 colors of your choice. See the graphic below for the fine print rules.

I combined some retired with new for this card. I used a pattern from our new Make It from Your Heart Volume 6 book. Our How-to books make creating layouts and cards SO easy! With color samples, cutting and placement guides you'll be finished before you know it!

I colored with TriBlend Markers (see the photo for the colors). My two colors to go with Melon are Honey Butter and Sage.

I first used Sage ink to stamp the sentiment but it didn't stand out very well. So I cut another piece of paper and stamped in Black. I trimmed it down and rubbed the edges on the Sage ink pad to define the edges. Then I used Foam tape to pop it up and placed it on top of the original sentiment I didn't like.

Floral Layout ~ Color Dare #508

Welcome to our Color Challenge! Each Friday we give you a set of colors to create with. You can make any paper craft you like. We reference Close To My Heart color but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. When you're ready to join the challenge just use the link in the post on our home page.

I love how this layout turned out! I just a pattern to get me started. It's from one of our How-to Books called Make It from Your Heart. I used Volume 2, Pattern 2 for this layout. We have many volumes with tons of patterns for layouts and cards!

The stamp set is one of our new ones in the Core Catalog for 2022-23. I couldn't wait to try it out and this is the result. Using White Daisy Cardstock for the base I lightly drew pencil lines to help keep myself on track when stamping. The other colors I used are Flamingo, Mulberry, Sangria, New England Ivy and Avocado. I used the same colors of Exclusive Inks, too. By the way, Sangria and New England Ivy are retiring colors the end of this month. So it's time to stock up!

After stamping on a Post-it note I fussy cut it out to use as a mask. I made masks for the two flower shapes. I started by stamping a large flower across the seam of the two bases and kept adding flowers as I moved to the outer edge of my pencil line. I went back to add the small flower, then added the leaves. Finally I added the small stems and flower buds. The last step was to add some dots of Goldenrod Stickles to the center of the large flowers and around as accents. The mat with white cardstock is for journalling.

The next step was to add the cardstock pieces to the layout and stamp the title on the left page. It's very simple when you have a sketch with all the cutting dimension and placement guide!

For You Darling Card ~ Color Dare 288

White is Free
OPEN through April 26th

I'm sharing a Mother's Day card because it will be here before you know it. This was an easy card to make because I started with a pattern from our Make It from Your Heart How-to Book! There is a cutting and placement guide to help you finish your card.

Hint: to give some color dimension to flowers you can use the Stamp & Roll technique. Ink your stamp and then roll part of the stamp in another (darker) color then stamp on the cardstock. You can also use this technique using only 1 color. Ink the stamp and stamp on scrap paper. Then go back and roll the stamp on the same ink pad and stamp on the cardstock.

All products are Close To My Heart
  • Stamp Set: For You Darling + Thin Cuts
  • Make It from Your Heart Volume 4 Pattern 11
  • Adventure Fundamentals Paper Pack
  • Cardstock: Mink, Peacock, White Daisy

So not it's your turn to create and share. Use the colors above to create any paper craft you like. If you don't have an exact CTMH color you can substitute something close BUT don't add any brand new colors to the palette. Full details are in the post on the Color My Heart home page. We love seeing what you create!

Have a great day!

Welcome to our monthly Technique Blog Hop! This month we're featuring ideas using our
How-to books which make creating very easy! If you've come from the blog of
Darlys Recker you're doing great. Click the link in each post to continue along for more great ideas!

I was in a scrapbooking mood the other day so I created this layout for this hop and my granddaughter's birthday! I used our newest pattern book called Make It from Your Heart. The patterns are clearly shown with cutting and placement guides. You can make your project exactly as the pattern shows or use it as a starting point and make adjustments of your own. I did make a change or two along the way and love the outcome. The journal piece I just had drew some lines and stamped the image at the bottom.

All products are Close To My Heart:
  • Make It from Your Heart Vol. 3 Patter 23
  • Paper: Adventure Fundamentals
  • Cardstock: White Daisy, Pewter, Lagoon, Raspberry
  • Exclusive Inks: Pansy

Color Dare #193

Are you ready for a new color dare? Well the Design Team at Color My Heart has a fun one for you this week! Here we go!

Canary, Champagne, Juniper, Slate, Whisper with White Daisy.
These are the colors in the Georgie paper pack.

I chose to make a card using a pattern from Make It from Your Heart Vol. 2. This is pattern number 29.  Using our How-To books makes stamping and scrapping SO EASY!

I wanted the image to stand out more and felt just inking it up and stamping would not make it pop enough. So I decided to use a technique called paper piecing. I stamped the image in Juniper and then again in Canary. I cut out the word birthday in Canary and adhered it on top of the Juniper image. That's all it took and now the image pops!

All products are Close To My Heart:
--Georgie paper pack
--Cardstock: Whisper, White Daisy
--Ink: Juniper, Canary
--Shimmer Trim: Aqua
I'd love to be your consultant.

Now it's time for you to get creative and join the fun! Click here to go to the Color My Heart home page where you will find details in the sidebar on how to join the fun! While you're there check out the ideas from the other Design Team members. By the way, if you don't have the exact colors for the dare, just use something close! This color dare will be open until Thursday at 9:00pm CDT.

Have a creative day!

Color Dare #123 -- New England Ivy and Ruby

It's time for another Color My Heart color dare!
This week our colors are New England Ivy and Ruby. You'll find these colors in the Yuletide Carol paper pack. But don't let that limit your creativity! Do whatever you'd like with the colors.

I love how this layout turned out! I started with our How-To Book called Magic. This is the Mystify pattern. There are no photos yet because I plan to take them this Christmas. It's like scrapping into the future!
See the sections with the trees? I cut two each of those sections. One I layered on the page as usual. The other I cut "hills" and layered those pieces on top. All edges have been sponged in Slate ink.

I cut the trees with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge then embossed with the Damask embossing folder. Happy Holidays was also cut with the Cricut Ary Philosophy. When placing the trees on the "hills", I tucked them between the layers, then added some sparkle to the top of each tree!

All products are Close To My Heart:
--How-To Book-Magic
--Yuletide Carol paper pack
--Snowhaven paper pack
--Colonial White cardstock
--Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge
--Damask Embossing Folder
--Slate ink
--Gold Sequins
--Gold Glitter Gems
--Bitty Sparkles

My website is on 24/7.

Now get your mojo going and join us for the Color Dare!
Details on joining the Color Dare are in the sidebar on our home page.

Have a creative day!

Happiness layout

If you're new to scrapbooking our Reflections How To Book is the perfect aide to creating your layouts! The book contains tons of single page layouts but also makes suggestions for companion page if you want to create a double layout!

In this layout I used the Sidebar--Photo Accent pattern and changed it a bit to go with the sizes of my photos. The paper kit is called Roxie. My photos were in color but I went to my local photo center and printed them in black and white for this layout.

The stamp set is called Hooray Bouquet and has images to coordinate with our new Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge! It so easy when you don't need to hand cut! The flourishes are from the appropriately named Cherished Flourishes stamp set and the word Happiness is a font from Art Philosophy as well as the scalloped borders.

Some of the flowers have stamped designs and some were just cut from the plaid Roxie paper. I then crunched them into a little ball and gently unfolded them for the distressed look you see here. Layer a few flowers together and add an Opaque Pearl to the center and you have some very pretty flowers!

Thanks for stopping by! Come back often!

Harvest Happiness layout

I LOVE the colors of Fall! I lived in Door County, WI for a long time and Fall was always my favorite season! The beautiful blue waters of Lake Michigan and the Bay of Green Bay made a stunning contrast to all the brilliant colors of the fall foliage.

Left page

Right Page

In the layout I used one of the patterns from out How To book called Magic. I also used the new stamp set Harvest Happiness which has images to coordinate with our Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. No hand cutting of the images! The word FALL is from our cork alphabet and gives a nice texture don't you think! I stamp rolled the leaves and the other letters stamped with the Bohemian Alphabet. A few touches of Bronze Glitter Gel and ribbon finished it off.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pair-a-Phrase Blog Hop

Welcome to our Pair-a-Phrase Blog Hop! If you've arrived here from Susan's blog you're on the right path. You just gotta love all these ideas!

Our special stamp set, Pair-a-Phrase, is a first ever double stamp set (two D size sets)! There are images and messages for year round occasions! The set is only available from Aug. 15-Sep. 30, 2011. You can get it FREE with a $75 order! The value on the set is $35.90 so I think you'll agree that's a great deal!!

Here is my first effort using this set. It's a standard size top fold card using a pattern called Simple Expressions from our Wishes How to Book. I selected our new Sonoma Papers for the beautiful yet neutral appearance. From the striped cardstock on the bottom I chose the color Petal for my mats and the Sparkles for the flowers.

The butterflies are from the Pair-a-Phrase stamp set. I stamped them in Cocoa ink then Clear Embossed to give a bit of texture and shine.

Our new Cricut Art Philosophy Collection is where I went to cut the flowers, mats and filigree. I just LOVE this cartridge. Can you believe it has 700 images? Well it does! It comes with 3 coordinating stamp sets and 3 Dimensional Elements packs, too! Plus many of the images in the Idea Book coordinate with images from the cartridge!

You can get the Pair-a-Phrase stamp set from August 14-Sept 30, 2011. Pair-a-Phrase (value $35.90) is FREE when you place a $75 order! Wow! What a great deal! Click here to get yours now!
