Layered Background Card ~ Color Dare #442

Yes it's Friday!!! That means our Design Team has a new color challenge for you! This week you pick at least 3 colors from the grid. You can pick more but you must use at least 3 of the colors. We also have some free color options for you to use.

We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready use the link in the post on our home page to join the challenge.

With the "use at least 3 colors" feature of this challenge this set of Thin Cut dies is a perfect match! I decided I wanted to use Sangria ribbon so that was the first color I chose. Since I am drawn to cool tone colors it was easy to add the Sapphire and Wisteria to the mix.

After cutting the layers with the dies I glued them together with some Tombow Liquid glue. I wanted to wrap the ribbon around the layers but didn't want it to show in any of the cutouts. I added a white layer to the back and wrapped around that getting the same look as if it were the actual card base itself.

After I wrapped the ribbon to the back I took a shorter piece and tied it around the wrapped part of the ribbon making a knot. This is a lot easier than trying to do it with one length of ribbon. I also used a Glue Dot behind the knot to keep it in place.

Close -up view. I used the Pearls to doodle around the sentiment layer. It adds  some texture and draws your eye too the sentiment. The inside of the card was left blank so I could add a custom message when it's used.

Paper Pal Girl Card ~ Color Dare #334

Color Dare #334 is based on colors from our How-to Book called The Love of Color.
Do you have to have the book to participate in the challenge? No you don't because we already picked the colors for you.
We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as it's a close match.

You can make any paper craft you like as long as it uses colors that match those in the grid. For this challenge you must use at least 3 of the colors....or use them all but don't add any new colors to the palette.

Link to the Color My Heart Color Dare home page.

Color Dare #334 is open through Thursday March 28, 2019.

I had so much fun making this card! With the Paper Pal sets the possibilities are endless. It reminds me of when I was young and would play paper dolls with my cousin. It was exciting to cut them out but the best part was playing and changing outfits. With the coordinating Thin Cut dies making these Paper Pals is very easy! See the images at the end of this post.

I started by stamping the Paper Pal base and using the Thin Cuts. Then I sponged a bit of color, stamped clothes, hair and added them. My final touch was to use some of out Gold Sequins as a necklace.  The background was stamped to look like wallpaper and a bit of sponging near the feet ground the girl so she's not floating in air.

Home and Heart Card ~ Color Dare #330

Open through Thursday Feb. 28th

The col My Heart Tic Tac Toe color challenge works just like the game. Pick colors in a row, column or diagonal for creating any paper craft you like. You can even use them all!  White is free. We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use whatever brand you have. Just make sure the colors are as close as possible and don't add any brand new colors to the palette. Full details are on the Color My Heart home page.

I picked the colors in the bottom row: Thistle, Sweet Leaf, Lagoon plus a little black. I started with a pattern from out very helpful how-to book called Make It from Your Heart (Volume 4, pattern 18). So now the colors and pattern are both selected and I just needed to do a bit of stamping to pull it all together! The wreath was stamped in black and colored with ink and a water brush. For the hello sign I stamped in black and then just washed some Thistle ink over it.

Be Yourself Layout ~ Color Dare #329

Open through Thursday Feb. 21

Here is a quick layout using Carolina, Mint and Smoothie from the colors above. It created a really pastel sort of look. Once I stamped the sentiment in the upper left corner and the ink was dry, I used the Mint Shimmer Brush to highlight it and make some sparkle. The rest of the layout is decorated with little hearts  and sparkles. The tags were cut with Thin Cut dies,  stamped and then layered for the layout. This color combination came from our new Love of Color Book. There are 3, 4 and 5 color combo's that will inspire you over and over again.

The Be Yourself set is a very special stamp set. It's our Operation Smile set and $7 from each sale goes to help children get facial surgery to correct cleft lips and palates. It's a non-profit organization doing incredible work and we're proud to be part of their mission.

Butterfly Layout ~ Color Dare #325

Open through January 24, 2019

This color palette is one you'll find in our The Love of Color book. There are 3, 4 and 5 color ideas for each of the colors in our Close To My Heart palette. You can use any brand of colors you have as long as you make sure it's as close a match as possible.

These are some of my favorite colors and I ended up using all of them except Silver. I also used a pattern from our Make It from Your Heart how-to book. So before I even got busy making the layout I already had the colors and pattern decided on and that makes it so easy! I just followed the cutting guide and placement of the papers. I stamped the images and added some embellishments. Some of the butterflies are popped up with foam tape and all the butterflies have shimmer brushed on them.
I'm very pleased with the results and can't wait to add photos!

January Stamp of the Month Blog Hop -- Card Captions

Welcome to the first Stamp of the Month Blog Hop of 2019! It's going to be a great year with tons of creative ideas to share!

If you've come from the blog of Brandi R you're on the right track. Just keep clicking on the links in each post to go to the next blog. Enjoy!

Card Captions is a MUST HAVE stamp set! It covers all the bases for card making and yes.....even some work for scrapbooking, too! I couldn't decide which sentiment to use so I just loaded up a large block! Once loaded I did the stamp pad to stamp technique to ink the stamps using three different colors I found paired in the Love of Color book. You simply pat the stamp pad on the stamp in the area you want that color. If you go light to dark with the colors you won't contaminate the stamp pads where colors overlap a bit. With a few finishing details my card was done and ready for someone's birthday!

Card Captions is our January Stamp of the Month which means it's only available from Jan. 1-31st. After that it's gone! Take care of all your card sentiment needs with this one stamp set available on my website for only $5 with a qualifying order! While you're there don't forget to order a pack of White Cards and Envelopes Value Pack. You'll get 50 cards and envelopes for only $15.95! That's a steal!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge

Today I'm sharing my project inspired by a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch is presented with cards in mind but I love showing how you can take the same idea and make it into a layout!

I love this photo of my granddaughter! Her personality shines through so I wanted to keep the rest of the layout clean and simple. Soft colors for the flowers taken from the colors in her clothing accent the photo just right. a few sparkles sprinkled about the layout are a nice touch, too.
