Say It with Flowers Card ~ Color Dare #589

I love these colors and the Feb. Stamp of the Month so I couldn't wait to combine the two for this card! For our Color Dare challenge you need to use Royal and Periwinkle and only ONE of the colors in the bottom row of our graphic. There are some free colors you can use in addition so see the graphic for the fine print rules.

We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. Make any paper craft you like. Use the link below the graphic when you're ready to join our challenge.

The Stamp of the Month program features an exclusive stamp set (sometimes with coordinating Thin Cut Dies) but only for the month it's featured in. After that it's gone and you've missed out if you want it but didn't get it in time. So we are now at the last few days of this beautiful stamp set being available. Feb. 29th is the LAST day ..... don't miss out on this wonderful stamp set!

Using a pattern from our How-to Guide called Make It from Your Heart this card came together easily and quickly. With our How-to Guides you get sample photos, a cutting guide and a placement guide! You can use the guide as is or as a starting point.

A couple of things I did on this card is to use a Word Strip for the sentiment then cut it in half. I first cut the stamp itself in two pieces so I could position the sentiment on the Word Strip as needed.  Another thing I did was to use a White Gel Pen to add highlights to the flowers. For the Word Strips I used the "back" since I wanted a cleaner look. The other side has a brown tone distressed edge.

Here is a list of Close To My Heart products I used for this card.

April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to our April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! The first of each month we have a talented group of Makers sharing what they created using the time limited stamp set for the month. This month we have a very pretty set called Scandinavian Fold Art Greetings.

The blog before mine belongs to Wendy Kessler. Click the links in each post to hop to the next blog. It's that easy!

I struggled a bit trying to decide which image to use as my focal point. There are so many cute ones it just took me a while. Once I decided to use the window image I went with a monochromatic look .... sort of.

I used some of our Thin Cut Dies to create the layers and I love the look it gives to the design. It really was an easy card to make and I hope you like how it turned out.

For My Beautiful Friend ~ July SOTM Blog Hop

Since it's the first of the month it's time for our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! Each month we feature artwork starring images from the current Stamp of the Month. This month we have a fantastic stamp set called For My Beautiful Friend.

Our blog hop is one big circle so you can hop on and off at your pleasure but I think you're going to want to stay on for the entire ride! Our consultants are very talented and have fantastic and creative ideas! The blog before mine belongs to Brandi Robinson. Click the link in each post to hop to the next blog. It's that easy!

For my card I wanted to showcase some of the smaller images in the set. Sometimes those images get kind of lost among the larger images but they deserve to shine all on their own! I love the small floral border and used it to flank the sentiment. I stamped the border in the middle of my strip and then filled it in on the ends to complete the look. The butterfly and flowers were colored with our TriBlend Markers.  The leaves were colored with a Shimmer Brush. The color on top of the sentiment is an image in the stamp set!

NOTE: A Stamp of the Month is only available in the month it's featured. So For My Beautiful Friend is only available from July 1-31, 2020. You can get the set for only $5 with a qualifying order! Click here for all the details.

For the background I used a pattern from our Brushed pack. This is a Special for July and is a beautiful collection of colors and patterns available in bundles or individually. I also accented with a narrow strip of Glitter Paper.

The butterfly is painted with a shimmer brush and on the flowers I gave them a glittery center using Stickles. Tip: when I added the butterfly I put adhesive on one wing and a piece of foam tape on the other wind. I bent the butterfly a bit in the middle and put it on the card. This gives a little 3D effect and looks so cute!

Garden Tags Meets Triangle Technique

There's a fun technique going around right now and this is a card version of it. Most of the time you'll see it on a scrapbook layout but my theory is if you can do it on a layout you can scale it down for a card! It works the same with cards to layouts, too.

I used papers from the Stitched Together paper collection with a couple shades of cardstock for a total of 5 layers in each triangle. You cut the layers slightly smaller after starting with the base piece. You start by cutting a square and then cut that on the diagonal to get your triangle. So as you go along you'll have enough to make 2 cards! For the large triangle the base is a 3" square, medium starts with a 2 3/4" square and the small start with a 1 1/4" square.

The tag was stamped with an image from our June Stamp of the Month called Garden Tags. I used our Thin Cut die called Tangs & Tabs to cut it out along with the "shadow" tag behind it. I image was colored with our TriBlend markers for a nice bright look to go along with the paper colors. At the end I painted the flowers with a Clear Shimmer Brush for some sparkle and added some gems.

Garden Tags ~ June Stamp of the Month Bog Hop

Boy oh boy do we have fantastic Stamp of the Month for you in June! Beautiful details and variety as well as so versatile! You definitely want this stamp set! Sit back and check out all the wonderful ideas for using the Garden Tags stamp set by these talented consultants. You will be amazed!

The blog before mine belongs to Alyson Mayo. Click the link in each post to hop to the next blog. It's just that easy!

I wanted to show you and idea for card with this stamp set. I couldn't decide which of the tag images I wanted to use.....so I used them all! The card design was inspired by a card from Lisa Graham. I tweaked the colors and papers for my project and love the way they turned out! The coloring was done with our TriBlend Markers which make it easy for blending colors since you have 3 shades of the color in one marker. I used our Thin Cut Stitched Rectangles Dies to get the black and striped layers. The tags were cut with our coordinating Tags and Tabs Thin Cut Dies. Using Thin Cuts makes it so easy and eliminates fussy cutting!

To get the best results with the TriBlend markers I started with the lightest color first. Next I added some shadow to give some dimension in either the medium or dark shade. After that I went over it again with the light shade. This last step gives a nice blend to the colors. These markers are great AND it's like getting 3 markers in one! The sparkle you see in the close-up photos is from a Clear Shimmer Brush. I love how it adds that sparkly sheen to whatever you paint it on!

As I mentioned Garden Tags is our June Stamp of the Month. This means it's only available from June 1-30. You can even get it for a big discount with a qualifying order! Click here to see the details.

June Stamp of the Month: Garden Tags
Tags and Tabs Thin Cut Dies

I just finished this layout and decide to add it to this post. I kind of dreamed it up as I was falling asleep the other night. I wanted a soft and gentle look to the layout. I random stamped a tag from the stamp set and filled in some of the space with the single flower. I only colored part of the images using a water brush and ink lifted from the lid of the stamp pad. It was easy to do but did take a bit of time. I added some Gold Glitter Gems for a tiny bit of sparkle and kept the bow white for the journal tag. I cut the journal tags with the Thin Cuts if both colors then offset them as layers.

I love our Tic Tac Toe Challenges! You pick your colors by row, column or diagonal. You can even use some of the other colors with your row, column or diagonal. Make any paper craft you like and share it on our Color My Heart Color Dare home page.

We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a VERY CLOSE MATCH. Sorry, but close enough doesn't count. So go ahead and pick your colors and start creating! We can't wait to see what you make.

I decided to use our current Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month: Reindeer Crossing. I LOVE this set and can't get enough of it. This time I concentrated on the sleigh. My colors come from the left column (Candy Apple, Evergreen, Gold) plus Kraft rom the middle. I colored the sleigh and pine bough with markers and heat embossed the sentiment. The background paper comes from our Cedar and Pine paper pack.

I'm sharing this project with Double Trouble. Check it out!
This project is also being shared with ArtsyStamper. Check it out, too!

May Stamp of the Month - To My Bestie

It's the first of the month and that means a brand new Stamp of the Month! May features a great stamp set called To My Bestie. Who wouldn't want to create with this set?!!!

I decided to go a bit outside the box with my card and use images that might not get the initial look over. There is still a friend theme to the card with a nice birthday message inside.

I love the balloon bouquet so that was my first image choice for my card. Markers were used for a nice bright look. I got the colors from our Love of Color How-to book with Pixie being the main color. I love how the stitched frame draws your eye in and highlights the sentiment. For the little knot of twine on the balloon string I used my piercing tool to loosen the strands for a fun look.

To My Bestie is our May Stamp of the Month which means it's only available from May 1 - 31st. Don't miss out on the fun stamp set! You can even get it at a discount for only $5 (details  on my website).  Place your oder now!

April SOTM Blog Hop ~ Love so Sweet

Welcome to the April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop featuring Love so Sweet. This hop is one big circle where you can hop on and off but I bet you're going to want to see the full circle of ideas! The blog before mine is Brenda Lapp. Click the link in each post to go to the next blog. A list of participating consultants can be found here.

My favorite stamps sets are the flower ones so this one appealed to me right away. My colors came from our How-to book called The Love of Color. You'll find each of our colors paired up with coordinating colors making 3, 4 and 5 color palettes. Mine is Lilac, Peach and Sweet Leaf.

Notice the streaks on the flowers? I made that by inking the stamp using a circular motion on the stamp pad. See the close-up photo below. It give a nice texture to the solid image.  I used the Swiss Dot embossing folder on Lilac cardstock. I only wanted the dots and the folder has dots, a band and blank space. The cardstock is longer then the dot area so I did it in two steps. You just have to do one section then realign the cardstock in the folder for the second pass. One more technique is to color embellishments. I used white dots and colored with a ShinHan Lavender marker. The circles were cut out using Thin Cut dies.

Love so Sweet is our Stamp of the Month for April so it will only be available from April 1 - 30. You can get it for a discount with a qualifying order, too!

January Stamp of the Month Blog Hop -- Card Captions

Welcome to the first Stamp of the Month Blog Hop of 2019! It's going to be a great year with tons of creative ideas to share!

If you've come from the blog of Brandi R you're on the right track. Just keep clicking on the links in each post to go to the next blog. Enjoy!

Card Captions is a MUST HAVE stamp set! It covers all the bases for card making and yes.....even some work for scrapbooking, too! I couldn't decide which sentiment to use so I just loaded up a large block! Once loaded I did the stamp pad to stamp technique to ink the stamps using three different colors I found paired in the Love of Color book. You simply pat the stamp pad on the stamp in the area you want that color. If you go light to dark with the colors you won't contaminate the stamp pads where colors overlap a bit. With a few finishing details my card was done and ready for someone's birthday!

Card Captions is our January Stamp of the Month which means it's only available from Jan. 1-31st. After that it's gone! Take care of all your card sentiment needs with this one stamp set available on my website for only $5 with a qualifying order! While you're there don't forget to order a pack of White Cards and Envelopes Value Pack. You'll get 50 cards and envelopes for only $15.95! That's a steal!

Seasonal Trees Card ~ CD 318

Welcome to a new Color Dare Challenge! This challenge is one of our popular Tic Tac Toe Challenges. You can pick a row, column, diagonal of colors to create with....OR even add a couple of the other colors. You can even use ALL the colors!

My colors are from the diagonal going bottom left to upper right: Pomegranate, Saffron, Glacier, plus I added Espresso and Mink. Im using the beautiful November Stamp of the Month stamp set called Seasonal Trees. I stamped a few tress across the cardstock in Mink and one up front in Espresso. This helps give some depth to the design. I used the bright colors for the tree in front to make it stand out. I also distressed the edge of the Mink and Glacier layers just for fun. Quick and easy!

The Seasonal Trees stamp set is only available Nov. 1-30th. There are so many great trees in this set I know you're going to want one for yourself!

November Stamp of the Month ~ Seasonal Trees

I LOVE tree stamps! I was so excited to see this stamp set I couldn't wait to put it to use! For the hop I decided to do a simple Christmas card and here is the result. I stamped the trees and then got busy with my palette knife and texture paste to add "snow". Once the paste was dry I used the Clear Shimmer Brush to add some sparkle to the snow. The ornaments were colored with Red Shimmer Brush.

This great stamp set is only available from Nov. 1 - 30th!

I almost always do the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop but forgot to sign up this time. Duh! This is the post I would have shared in the hop. Click here to see what the hoppers have to share this month!
