Pretty Floral Cards

I love sharing and teaching some tips and tricks along the way! This post shows how fun it is to do the same design with very different looks! Just by changing out a couple things you get a totally new feel!

The pink card was the one I made first and I love it. Then CTMH came out with the current Joy of the Journey Special and I just HAD to remake the card in Journey! I admit I love them both but the Journey card is my favorite of the two.

The cards both use the vase of flowers image from the Heartfelt Flowers set (link below). I paper pieced the vase after I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder. Color Pencils were used to color the flowers for a pretty and soft look.

For the Journey card I used the same pattern paper for the background.  I changed out the pink cardstock for Journey. Wow what a difference it created! This time I paper pieced the vase after stamping on pattern paper. The layer behind the vase was embossed with the Swiss Dot folder. I used the back of the piece (where the dots go in) this time.

So there you have it! Two different cards that use most of the same products. Play around with your colors, papers, embellsihments and see how you can change this up a little....or a lot! See below for a list of products used for the cards.

The Joy of the Journey Special includes exclusive items just for this Special! Cardstock, stamp set, sticker sheet and pattern papers all add up to a wonderful mix of fun! You can get it at the sale prices in a bundle or as individual items.  Buy early because I think this will fly off the shelves!

Wild Berry Blast Blog Hop

This blog hop is hosted by the same group of Close To My Heart Makers that do the monthly Stamp of the Month Hop. Our Wild Berry Blast Special is just too much fun and goodness so we added this hop to our list!

The hop is one big circle so all you have to do is click the link in each post to move through the hop. You're going to see some fantastic ideas so sit back and relax and enjoy the ride!

For reference the blog before mine is: Becca-expressions. For a complete list of participating Makers, click here.

I couldn't wait to create with the floral pattern of this pack! My granddaughter's favorite color is pink so of course I had to scrap a photo of her with this gorgeous paper!

The layout is a pattern from our Make It from Your Heart How-to Book (vol. 5, pat. 3). Having a pattern with a cutting and placement guide makes for an easy start!

I knew right away I wanted the circle element of the pattern to be the floral but I didn't want to use any more than needed so I had more for other project. Instead of cutting a full 8" circle then cut it at 4.5" I use my Cricut and cut a semi circle sized to 4.5" x 8". Now I have a bunch more of this beautiful paper to use.

I tried using a black and white photo but thought it wasn't bold enough with the Wild Berry color. I solved the problem with a color photo and a touch of Lagoon cardstock to tie in the color of her clothes with the Wild Berry.

It's a bit hard to see in a photo but I splattered some shimmer on the black background (Wild Berry) and on the cardstock behind the photo (Black) with Shimmer Brushes. The photo is popped up with some Thin Foam Tape so I tucked some Silver Thread underneath and added Silver Glitter Gems around the page. A last minute thought was to use some Dazzle Liquid Pearls around the edge of the circle. All the other embellishments are from the sticker sheet that comes in the bundle.

In this photo you can see the beautiful holographic shimmer of the paper. I couldn't wait to create with this paper! The photo doesn't really do it justice!

This photo shows the tone on tone patterns of some of the other papers in this special pack. Plus you can see the silver stripe pattern, too. This is one fantastic Special!

As we welcome a new year, we are also celebrating National Papercrafting Month! And, to help you celebrate with us, we created a beautiful letter kit for you to assemble, customize, and display using your own personal flair. What’s more, WE ARE GIVING AWAY THREE OF THESE LOVE LETTERS KITS in the next 72 hours!
Love Letters #closetomyheart #ctmh #love #letters #monogram #chipboard #paper #crafting #national #month #January
All you have to do to enter into the drawing is subscribe to our blog, if you aren’t already, and leave a comment below letting us know how you would display your Love Letter(s). It’s that easy! Three lucky winners will be chosen by 11:00 a.m. (MST) Friday, January 5th, and will be notified by email to choose their letter.
Now, let us tell you a little more about these Love Letters!Love Letters #closetomyheart #ctmh #love #letters #monogram #chipboard #paper #crafting #national #month #January
Each kit comes with one sturdy chipboard letter base, one paper and rose gold overlay piece, die-cut banners and floral embellishments, and rose gold foil alphabet stickers to create the word or name of your choice.
As you assemble these letters, here are a few tips to keep in mind.
Love Letters #closetomyheart #ctmh #love #letters #monogram #chipboard #paper #crafting #national #month #January
1. The first thing is that you don’t have to use all of the pieces included in the letter kit. Depending on how you plan to use the letter, you might opt out of the banner or some of the flowers and succulents. The number of die-cuts you want to use will depend on the shape of your letter and the length of the word you’ve chosen. Remember, sometimes less is more.

2. If you are using the banner for a word or a name, add the alphabet stickers to the banner before attaching it to the letter. It’s also easier if you begin your word in the middle and work your way out. This way, you can make sure your word is centered and you have enough room for all of your letters prior to attaching any additional embellishments.

3. As you assemble the flowers, consider using your finger, a pencil, or any soft round edge to help shape some of the petals. (Not all of your flowers have to have curved petals). Also, when arranging them on your letter, do so before attaching them. Try arranging your flowers in triangles of color. If you’re not quite sure how to do that, look at the instructions insert including in your kit. There, you will find a completed example for each letter and the ampersand. (It’s okay to copy. We won’t tell!)

4. For those of you who want to take this project up a notch, there’s always some wiggle room. Look how we used a handful of additional products (not included in the kit) to quickly and easily embellish the flowers. The petals edges were given a pop of color with a sponge and some ink. We added sparkles and pearls to the flowers’ centers, and used the brand-new Bashful shimmer brush for a touch of extra shine on the green succulent petals.
These Love Letters are so versatile. Put them in frame, a wreath, or hang them on their own. Create words, names, or initials. They work in your living room, a bedroom, a nursery—really anywhere!
We hope you are as excited about National Papercrafting Month as we are. Don’t forget to subscribe and leave us a comment below telling us how you would use your Love Letter for a chance to win one letter of your choice FREE!!
For even MORE CHANCES TO WIN, visit us on Instagram and Facebook where we are giving even more of these away! (What?!) Make sure to follow us for details on how to enter these separatedrawings!!
